Actually I thought it was Gallo himself that provided the
entire soundtrack for The Brown Bunny. Thanks for
enlightening me! I've never heard of Jackson C. Frank but I
will certainly do now. I also look forward to reading your
essay.

I don't have a problem with him being a conservative. I
don't think conservatives are any dumber than socialists.
And that style of old-school Pat Buchanan conservatism is a
lot more focused than the mess American liberalism is in
right now.

Oh man.. three days after watching The Brown Bunny and I'm
still thinking about it all the time! This movie has really
made an impact on me even though it was - at times - almost
unbearable to watch...

I've downloaded the soundtrack and I listen to that all the
time too. I've also downloaded the Complete Greatest Hits by
Gordon Lightfoot and Blues Run The Game by Jackson Frank,
and I listen to those records when I'm not listening to the
soundtrack.

I don't know what Vincent Gallo is up to but he has done
some sublime shit to me that I certainly didn't expect when
I sat down to watch this movie so often dismissed by critics
as just a self absorbed ego trip. They have so not been
paying attention to the emotional aspect of it. I think The
Brown Bunny might be the most emotional movie I have ever
seen...

There are anarchists who, beneath their dirty denim
shirts, are outrageous conformists, and conformists who,
beneath their button-down collars, are outrageous
anarchists."

Yeah, he was white and didn't look like an idiot cheezeball.
Good for him. The style back then was the best.

Sevigny.

i don't think he's getting any money out of it..that's why
he complains a lot. about how he never gets enough money to
film stuff..but yeah, even if he had to pay for that bj out
of his pocket, it's still a cool thing to do.

just started to listen to his music in oarder to... to learn
who the hell is he.

read some info over the web, looks like a lot of people
consider him a 'bad guy' - racism, sexism -type talks.

all of this at current stage of getting-into-vincent-gallo i
have a word to describe my feelings: ENVY. Motherfucker (no
pun int.) is a director, a model for (FU)CK1 calvin klein,
an actor in movies my girlfriend likes while i don't
(arizona dreams), a musician whose music is "not my type
of"* but released on the legendary warp label, he makes a
film where he is getting a blowjob then shows it on the
cannes festival and gets away with it (nothing special, of
course, but!), can talk racist and sexist shit and get away
with it, be a friend of the rock producer who earns money
producing similar tracks twice (the RHCP dani california
topic) and other hairy folks.

Think qrter's post here matches what I think yet:
he made one good film.. music isn't great.. boring
presentation of himself in the media.. summarising:
bleh.

* I rather like the "recordings of music for film" - it
seems to better than the when album (deleted after
downloaded and listened 50% through).

buffalo 66 is a great film.

that is all he has achieved as yet.. the brown bunny sucks,
his music sucks even more and palookaville is not that bad,
actually.

You should check out the stuff I've got back home then. I
haven't finished any of the tunes, and that, together with
the situation and mood that inspired them, is depressing
enough to make you want to kill someone, or maybe yourself.
