Hi, haha! Yes, that's right, oh i know, no, seriously, oh,
it was awful. And the.. yeah, oh, OOOH, no, no, stop, no
seriously, STOP!

No, what I was going to say was I wanted to let loose the
MP3-Single that goes with the vastly overated Grinning Ape
"album", or MP3-LP. It has one new track on it, and one
track off of the album. The good news is it is free. The bad
news is, it's by me. It's the sort of thing i_x_ten would
say was "shit". But if you can get by that... then, riches
are yours. But not Rich's.

A. Track One

AA. Sea World

magnificent.

the first track warmed things up nicely, but 'Sea World' is
a thrilling track.. I especially loved 2:30-3:30.. ahhh,
gorgeous!

I value good track titles highly as well, I think calling
this one 'Sea world' was a nice touch, I felt like I was
swirling, swimming around one of those water levels in Donkey
Kong Country, only on speed. Well done!

First track reminds me of old aphex days.

Second one reminds me of fatty little manatee's and other
fat little antartic creatures running around with their fat
selves.

Grinning Ape is one of those undiscovered gems in a way. You
know when you're rummaing through the racks in a good record
store and you come across something with a name that gets
your attention? That's the first part of Grinning Ape. The
second part is when you listen to the music and you find out
it's awesome.

I've recently found out that there is a lossless audio
format .ape . Files made by a program called Monkey Audio.

imagine: Track_One.ape

I like the way the seemingly accidental
dropout/clipping/overdrive seems to morph into an entirely
different sound. For some reason this track sounds really
"live". You can imagine a small venue absolutely jam-packed
as people nod their heads in appreciation and through fists
in the air and shout "Yeah" every time the synthetic
brass/oboe sounding thing comes in.

Another quality ape production.

i don't think i've ever listened to you before, or maybe i
have...

i like the textures you have in this track one. they're
billowy, but rough as well, as it seems to contrast with
itself. i also like the effects you have on the drums here.
this track makes me feel like i'm going someplace, like it
wants to whisk me away, it sounds very dreamlike. for some
reason, it reminds me of a rainforest, but with machines
storming in about to tear down everything.

it may be repetitive, but it's pleasing to my ears. i like
it, sir.

I love that phaser sound that screamed through track one,
I'd go nuts to this at da club. The atmosphere behind that
and the beats is almost like a subliminal guide for them
(maybe a bit drowned out cause it's live? OMGawdz). The
faint melody sucked me into the madness much like AB3 does.

Sea World just made me think of that movie flight of the
navigator, I have no fucking idea why. It's a great track.
Never really heard much of your stuff before this, you
definitely have your own sound. You own it. Grin.

Sorry, this isn't a bump, I just wanted to say "Thanks a
lot" to everyone who devoted valuable listening time, and
that I'm really encouraged by people's comments. I feel
that, for once, I'm not just making a fucking noise. So yes,
thanks to everyone's ears and brains.

The grinning ape project is something great. I must admit
that I'm usually not really interested to listen to music
producted by people like us. But it's not like this case,
what I'm going to say is I'm saving all your tracks on my
hard drive.

Anyway I agree with ecnadniarb here, I really liked "Sea
World" and I thought the first track wasn't that special.

Sea world sounds like a lost track from "i care because you
do" sort of. A good one. Really nice swirling sound in the
background. I'm sort of interested, do you play an
instrument in real life? Sounds like you know something
about chords and stuff.
