BIYC under threat...

...well, the wikipedia entry at least.
It seems as soon as you satisfy one power crazed lunatic
that, no it's not a joke and shouldn't be deleted, another
one appears and you have to defend it all over again.
It seems that a combination of:
Them having not heard of it,
It having a funny/rude title,
and
Retards who don't even read the whole article and just
suggest it should be deleted on the grounds that "The band
BIYC are not notable" after skim reading it.
Justify it being deleted. We don't think so. If Merck and
Mego are allowed pages there after they've folded, why can't
BIYC? I mean, even WATMM has an entry...

So, we're asking that if you have enjoyed the releases of
BIYC and want to see the project continue and hopefully
reach a wider audience, please could you exercise your right
to edit wikipedia entries and add some information the BIYC
wikipedia page and/or justification as to why it should
stay, in the discussion RE: deleting the wikipedia BIYC entry.

Please, please, please bear the following in mind;

* Only add accurate, grammatically correct information to
the site; a load of poorly written sentence fragments of
nonsense will only add to the case for deletion.

* Don't make your arguments in the case for deletion thread
personal. Keep them factual and ideally quote wiki's own
policy at them.

* If you're one of the artists on the label, a brief bio,
with a link or two to your site would be great. If you're
involved with another project that already has a wikipedia
page, an internal link to that would be excellent.

* If you could put links to BIYC in pertinent places
on wikipedia (IE electronic music, IDM, netlabels, etc) to
get the number of internal referals up, that'd be superb.
Again, only where it's relevant and not crude.

Many thanks in advance.

Remember, we're

I would remove this 'point of interest':

"One of the early releases, on pioneering purple 7" mp3,
was limited to 100 copies and has since sold out. Original
copies have been seen on Ebay for large amounts of money.
Bootlegs can be found floating around on Soulseek too."

that alone gives the Meanies enough ammo to take it down.

I think it's very good, but I can see a few things that I'd
say "Hmmm, no, i can't imagine anyone at Wiki being overly
thrilled about that...". I'm not saying anything but I'd
keep it .. at least faux factual and maybe trim some of the
more scurrilous claims.

Agreed, I think a stripping back to irrefutable fact and
bios, perhaps a release catalogue, for now, whilst it's up
for debate whether to keep it or not, would be a good idea.
Once the heat has died down, people have accepted that the
wiki entry is here to stay and the size of the entry and
factual information has grown, we can put a few of the more
entertaining "facts" back in.

Phobs: I originally had it as "Bam in your C**t", but
someone has changed it.

some wanker just added a speedy delete request.

also for an encyclopedia to actually censor naughty
words has to be the silliest thing I ever heard of! Cunt has
its own entry in wikipedia, so I don't see why they should
consider deleting it because of naughty language, and if it
is the name of what is being referred to, censoring
it could lead to confusion, and then people would start to
think it was really called "BAM in your C*nt" or something,
which would be incorrect information, and thus more eligible
for deletion.

Phobs: I can't change the name. It's part of the stupidity.
Are you miffed that WATMM has an entry whereas xltronic
doesn't? Not that I want to mention the fact that xltronic
has had many people DJ for it who're notable...

Look at the latest debating smackdown I served up in that
discussion on deletion...

Have a look at the profile of the most recent detractor
AmiDaniel (WTF sort of name is that?). Someone else has
noticed that the user is "self contradicting".

Drunken Mastah: I completely agree. Looking at it completely
dispassionately, the only possible reason for it being
deleted that I have seen (and it has only been mentioned
once rather than half a dozen like most of the completely
irrelevant ones) that I have seen is that it is "not a
notable record-label". Even if it's not notable (which is
itself open for debate), wikipedias guidelines state that
that alone is not grounds for deletion; more merely
something that would lend extra weight to an existing,
legitimate argument for deletion (which of course, does not
exist, or if it does has not been posted).

yes.. also, my deviously constructed logical argument (I
didn't bother checking the logical structure of it, but
maybe I should?) also proves that not only deletion of this
article is against what an encyclopedia is all about, but
that wikipedia, if the article is deleted, is no more an
encyclopedia, or full of misinformation about what an
encyclopedia is.

It's probably a desperate attempt to make it appear that all
the arguments for keeping it originate from "unsigned
accounts". The inherent failing in it is that regardless of
who made those arguments, they are irrefutable. PWNED!

fanny means pussy or cunt in england but in the states it
means arse and as most yank males are shirt lifting shit
stabbers they would rather be bammed there. it's also more
politically correct.

but still

the debate is over whether or not cunt is offensive and not
important to the factual nature of the article, and since
the label is called bam in your cunt and not bam in your
fanny, I'd say cunt is as important as anything else
whilefanny is misleading information

i'm drunk, though
