Yeah, I read about it some days ago on matrixsynth. Looks
pretty cool, but I don't really know much about it yet.

Looks neat. Any info on prices?

I am liking the look of this as well. Semi
modular, all analogue. MSRP of $700us? How could you not?

Looks nice, I know this one. It is actually an extension to
other Future Retro synths, or even other modular or
semimodular analogue synths. There are plenty of synths like
that.

No price yet for this one, it depends on the final
production cost.

This stupid anal log fad has got to stop.

So what if digital synthesis doesn't sound like analog
synthesis? Maybe it sounds better. You can do lots more with
it. You can have literally unlimited oscilators, routing and
sampling in Max and Reaktor. Try doing that in anal log
synthesis and you can't even pay for the electricity to run
it all.

I mean does this hardware emit stupidity rays? Once you buy
one anal log it makes you want to buy more. People will
spend tens of thousands of dollars to do things that
freeware VSTis can do better.

I guess cavemen complained bitterly when someone invented
flutes and stringed instruments, saying that they just
didn't sound like good old fashioned hitting rocks together.

well they are both good for different things , to suggest a
freeware synth is better than a vintage moog or ARP or
whatever is pretty daft i reckon. the two are not mutually
exclusive anyway

Humph. I was trying to make taxidermist come burn a giant
cross made of vacuum tubes and discrete transistors on my
lawn.

Maybe you should check outside right now (and step on the
burning bag on your doorstep while your at it)... >:(

And hey, I have plenty of VA. Got nothing against it, its
great and all. Sure its powerfull, and it can do a lot, but
analogue sounds better when you want a good thick
analogue sound. I don't care what the digital enthusiasts
say. Different things are good for different things.
Computer synthesis is good for sounding computery, VA is
good for sounding pretty good, digital FM is good for
sounding amazing and analogue is good for sounding full,
warm, sticky and elastic.

But I agree. As soon as the analogue fad dies, then the
price of analogue goes way down, and then I can get more of
it.

I don't care how much modules you can add in reaktor, or how
much space it takes up. I will still put this up against any
reaktor ensemble, any day.

I like analogue synths cause I'm not a mathemtician.
Actually, Im totally shit at math. I hate Reaktor and Csound
and all that shit. Plus, I usually just go on message boards
and check my email when I'm on my computer. I'm too stupid
for computer music. I need a big red dial to turn. I;ve also
been in love with synths since my teens. I like looking at
them too.

i found perfect lyrics for your music :

Well, in my time of dyin’
Don’t want nobody to mourn.
All I want for you to do is
Take my body home,
Well, well, well,
So I can die easy,
Well, well well,
Well, well, well,
So I can die easy.
Jesus gonna make up, jesus gonna make up,
Jesus gonna make up my dying bed.

Well, meet me, jesus, meet me,
Meet me in the middle of the air.
If these wings should fail me, lord,
Won’t you meet me with another pair,
Well, well, well,
So I can die easy,
Well, well well,
Well, well, well,
So I can die easy.
Jesus gonna make up, jesus gonna make up,
Jesus gonna make up my dying bed.

Lord, in my time of dying
Don’t want nobody to cry,
All I want you to do is
Take me when I die.
Well, well, well,
So I can die easy,
Well, well well,
Well, well, well,
So I can die easy.
Jesus gonna make up, jesus gonna make up,
Jesus gonna make up my dying bed

no, no, sorry i should have clarified. I rarely ever use
VSTi's, so I would definately not be any kind of authority
to say how good VSTi's sound. I just meant that I'm getting
tired of all the bands I've seen recently using a Moog
simply because it's a word that's passed around from mouth
to mouth in the "synth scene" like a cumswap in a porno
flick. I get the general impression that many of the people
who adamently support analog simply haven't bothered to give
digital or computer synthesizers a proper chance.... and I
don't feel that 30 minutes spent on a demo is a good way to
judge any software synth (especially/mainly the good ones).
Every time I use Reason 3.0 I discover a new sonic
possibility. So I suppose, in reply to your question, I
don't think freeware vsti's sound better. Just that I feel
this whole analog(ue) craze has gone a bit out of control.

I don't have much to say because I pretty much feel the same
way. I own a Yamaha Ex-5 and a Roland JP-8000, both of which
are VA synths. Both of these have certain aspects which
never get old, especially for the money I paid for them. I'm
not entirely unhappy with them, but I feel as though I'm
only scraping the surface of what synthesizers can do and
be. I would like a "jack of all trades" analog synth if
possible, something that has plenty of knobs and sliders, a
nice keyboard, and sonic oomph to spare, but isn't so
expensive that I have to take out a second mortgage on the
house. I'm not sure if anything like that exists currently,
so I guess that's what I'm waiting for. Aside from that, I
recently discovered Reason so I've actually made a shift
more toward the digital even as I was hoping to go more
analog.

The evolver is like that. If you can deal with monophonic,
and just the desktop module, then you get an amazing piece
of hardware for around $500. Decide to lay down $1200 you
can get the mono keyboard, and $2700 for the poly keyboard
with something like 70 knobs.

Polyiblit is free and sounds as good as any real anal
log synth I've tried - moog voyager, evolver, ms20, polysix,
juno 106, you name it. It has creaminess and wallop. Doesn't
sound exactly like any of them which is fine - they sound
different from one another too.

The presets are boring but spend some time creating a patch
and it can sound like something from an add n to x album
easily. It sounds fabulous dry, without any effects.

thanks for the link, sir. Like I said, I have very little
experience with VSTs and its been a few years since i've
even used one. Question: Can this poliblit be used with
reason, and if so, do I just throw it in the reason folder
with everything else or do I need to make a separate VST
folder within the reason directory?

$1,700... the software editor is included with the
synthesizer itself... the only thing that sucks is that YOU
MUST have a computer with the editor installed in order to
be able to save patches you make on the synthesizer
itself... kind of weird... but it's the only way you'd be
able to see what modules exist in each patch

with that exception... there are X4 1/4" inputs & outputs,
so routing audio back from itself is possible... routing the
audio to wherever you need it to go is no problem... there
is also an XLR input for use with the vocoders & shiate...
great piece of gear
