I hope some other labels pick up the most talented artists
from Merck. Machine Drum is signed to Sublight already

machine drum is my hero. m3rck was really dope, i feel bad
for not supporting them while i could. especially since
they're based out of Miami.

aesthetics... we're just glad to have published the
first public statement from the label.. it might not
answer all the questions people have, but it should
give people an indication as to what's going on....

1000's of people are disappointed..?

I mean, I liked a few things on Merck myself, but I would
say "thousands of people" seems pretty exaggerated.

actually, when you consider the limitations
of almost every release at or around 1000
to 2000 each it's hard not to say that there
are a few 1000 people who have snapped
up merck releases over the years.....

Why, because you only like a few?

no. I mentioned that because I don't think it was a bad
label.

the market is effectively quite tiny for this kind of music,
so sure, there will be a group that will really mourn
Merck's downfall, but I would be very surprised if it even
comes close to a thousand.

that's something completely different, though.

I just don't know to be honest, but it is easy to calculate
that they have sold more than 70000 releases (incl 12'')
over the years.. so there are more than 1000 buyers for
sure. Dunno if they all are disappointed.

Assuming, as Gabe Koch didn't dispute the question it might
be very close to 1000 though. ;)

I like the begining

Pietro Da Sacco :: ... why the closure to the
label?

Gabe Koch :: Well, there are literally dozens of
reasons.... some business and some personal, in the interest
of not leaving any bad blood, as well as not discussing my
personal issues, I don't really want too get to
specific....

Reading between the lines, I think he's talking about
finding Pietro so annoying that he's decided to give up
releasing music just to get away from him ever having
anything even vaguely to do with him.

Pietro Da Sacco :: Merck Records. Going strong for
so long, producing top-notch electronics and everything
tucked in between --why the closure to the label? Will
Narita close also?

Gabe Koch :: Well, there are literally dozens of
reasons for the closure of Merck, some business and some
personal, in the interest of not leaving any bad blood, as
well as not discussing my personal issues, I don't really
want too get to specific. Basically though, it's this new
gargantuan net label; BIYC. They're too good and we can't
compete. They said they were out to finish off labels like
Merck, in fact Merck was one of the ones, along with Mego,
who were specifically named. Looks like they got their wish.
There's no way we could keep charging for our shoddy
releases when they were making much better stuff available
for free.
