Yeah. When I work 9 to 5, my hobbies and personal time suffer ('natch), so I make up for it by sleeping less so I can take in more. My quality of work drops drastically after a month or so.
When I was at school, I had no need for all-nighters because I barely did any work anyway and had enough time to do what I really wanted to do. I fucked up.

And you all know it's irreversible damage.

Ive had about 5 months to myself doing personal training at home, and because i am able to work anytime i want my sleeping pattern goes from normal to nocternal back again to an endless loop.
I am not joking, this is what happens. It's occured atleast 4 times in the past 2 months.
I sleep more than i am awake, which isn't good really for being productive, oh well.
Oh and also, if it wasn't for the computer, i would stick to the normal sleeping pattern and be awake during the day, it's just the monitor and what i am doing really keeps me focus, i'm sure that isn't good for my brain cells.. Infact, i know it's not good because i forget really general things... but i remember what i learn the night before well.
anyway, when i was at college, there was no way i was staying up late, the whole of last year was terrible for me, i got in after leaving college at 5:20pm (from 7:30am) and i would just pass out... i struggeled to keep deadlines, this is due to me being lazy somt of the time in class, but i personally don't see it as a good work enviroment (what with all the other people there to socially distract you) -- for me, to work best.. i have to be alone.

lupus yonderboy You loose brain cells anyway, but you always generate more from sleep and so on.. so his claim doesn't seem very probable.

i don't think the brain has regenerative qualities unlike say the liver. but you can reform connections, like in stroke victims learning to reuse limbs. but a 100% increase in loss can be misleading. if you lose 200 instead of 100 it might still be an insignificant figuare. i'd be interested in reading the research and context.

i totally agree. i get so much more things done during night. like making music and such. and the silence, yes. i realize more and more how much i dislike big cities. i will move back to a small place 'out in the country' as soon as possible.

In college I developed a habit of staying up pretty late, and now I work nights. Puts a real damper on one's social life.
