I got me old Yamaha RY-10 rhythm programmer t'other day and it's a right blast to fiddle with, have a listen to a short jam of my learning-by-doing beatz and bass. Its a real musik track, trust!
click RY10
It does some awesome rubbish bass sounds too and its got its own speaker and its battery powered too so I made some beats on the bus which is infinitely more fun than doing it at a desk. And I stuck it through my pals guitar effects geezer which sounds FUNK
this shit is fun bizniz

it sounds pretty good, apart from the overwhelming reverb

I think it's pretty cool. i would love to make tunes on-the-go also, even though the idea is a bit pointless because i'm never outside, but the samples on that drum machine sound really good.
