well think about it after its written , its not generative
music its generated music once its all done. even if you put
in some signals yourself or automated something else to
happen. so then all thats left is whether or not you had a
point to generate all that stuff, whether or not you wanted
it to lead the listener somewhere or whether or not you just
wanted to generate a pallete of noises that are sequenced
4/4 you know what im saying... most of these richard devine
copycats do this, they're satisfied with just a pallete of
noises, no buildup... think of a video game that just throws
a bunch of random enemy types at you of mixed difficulty. or
think of a girl whose sucking your dick and goes all gung-ho
about it and is licking your balls at one moment but seconds
later is fingering your asshole you get what im sayin/?

so what if loads of young guys are using VSTs???? what's
the
problem are they gunna take your slot as the new upcoming
superstar?

no im just expressing my opinion of it . am i allowed to do
that? ok with you? feel free to disagree with me but you
dont really have to attack me

In the first post you said "if im totally wrong just say
fuck you cygnus". As I said, stop talking hollow crap and
make some music for a few months.

100% of the lazy stuff sounds the same.

The clever use of a VST means it doesn't sound like everyone
elses using that VST.

youre the one who right off attacked my music calling it
soulless, and that it sounds like IDM cutup. telling me what
i do and do not understand. im just trying to say there
should be a broader entrance, and you cant stop reminding me
how bad my music sucks. well i already know that thanks!

+ my original point...

biggest problem i see w/ a lot of young guys getting
into making electronic music is that they use too many
fucking vsts that fuck up their beats

= my point. try like adding these together and see what
results you get

im afraid that wasn't attacking you. perhaps you are being
overly sensitive! the point is: who cares? there will always
be stuff you don't like. I don't really see the point in
making a new topic, etc etc. I could have been nasty and
started bashing you, but then to be fair I would have to do
it to a couple of others on here first.

I program drums as I feel they should be, and the only wrong
you can do is if you program them in any other way
than how you feel they should be.

not everyone sprouts out of the eart's soil as a new electro
super star, people have to get there. And they use VST's
alot to get there. I respect your oppinion, but making a
whole thread about it how much you hate it? To me that just
sounds foolish, like you can do way alot better then all
them kids :/ But that's just my own personal oppinion

I can see what cygnus is saying. As someone who makes music,
a factor of my enjoyment when I listen to other artists is
along the lines of, "wow, how did they do that?" In the same
way I admire the complexity of some jazz playing, or the
beauty of classical works, I am astounded by the drums
programming and sound creation of music from this genre.
Now, I know this is probably just me-but to find out that
"that amazing beat" was simply the result of shoving a
shitty drum loop through some VSTs is something that
detracts from my love of the music. But I understand and
appreciate the view that we should simply concerntrate on
the end result, and not the process. I, however, can't help
but care about the process-if a piece is the result of
slapping a preset drum loop with a preset synth loop, I will
respect and enjoy it less than the same track being the
result of detailed design by the artist.
