I know there was a fairly large thread about this series
floating around here (as mush as I wanted to browse through
it, I decided not to for fear of spoilers), but I could not
get the search function to pull it up for me so I'll start
a-new.

Recently finished the complete series and some of the most
interconnected books (Salem's Lot, Rose Madder, currently
reading Hearts in Atlantis), and I found it to be quite
stunning. It puts all his work (40+ novels) into a
framework, all peices of a bigger puzzle. That's a pretty
awsome accomplishment.

Although I loved the last book, I might have to give the nod
to "The Gunslinger: Revised Edition" as the best book of the
series. The town of Tull, and the showdown in the end of
that section will linger in my mind long after the rest of
this series has passed from memory.

(Spoiler warning)
My personal feeling on the ending is that Roland now
possessing the Horn IS his redemption. That in this next
passing Roland will likley spare Jake's life under the
mountain, forsake the Tower (it's about the journey not the
ending, to paraphrase King himself), and blow the horn for
himself.

I know we have some more Tower fans among us, anyone else
want to share their take on the completed series? Or
connected materials?

Thread is here

I dunno, I don't think he forsakes the tower at the end, the
poem is meant to be the 20th cycle. I think. I'm re-reading
it right now as it goes.

After reading the Dark Tower I picked up The Stand agin and
enjoyed it more than when I hadn't read the Dark Tower. I
think I will re-read Eyes of the Dragon next
