why did analord 10 have to be so good?

...just why, oh why, did it have to be so-ridiculously-much
better than the rest of the analord series? Don't get me
wrong, I'm completely grateful that RDJ released some of the
most brilliant music he has in years, but it set my hopes up
for a gangbang without lube.

your answers in 3 words or less:

yeah why!?!?!?!? analord 10 was easily the best! and I was
freaking out and thought that "wow this will be legendary
and Aphex best release ever if hes going to release 10 ep
with quality material like this!!!" but then he released vol
1 and was like WTF!! ;)

yep. if you're gonna spend insane amounts of money on
analord, youd want it to be 10.

I think that Lisbon Acid, Pwsteal.Bancos.Q, W32.Mydoom.AU@mm
and VBS.Redlof.B together would make a much better release
than the 10th part alone. If on one volume of course. Having
listened to Fenix Funk for the 436583215 time I don't find
it the best Analord track any more, the same with Xmd5a.

so that you would buy the rest of the series, thinking it
was as good as the first (tenth)

10 is closer to the "idm" structure than the rest I guess,
but still pretty far from it. That's why it's so good.

I'm still getting into them really, after the overload. I
listened to 8,10 and 11 the most before... but now I really
like 9.

God that just all sounds so fucking stupid.

and naturally, the following question should be "and what is
the idm structure?"...is there any?

please don't answer.
some people like anal10 more than the rest, so be it.

(i do agree with big on some of the acidhousish tendencies
on some of the analords though)

IMO the only thing they have in common with acidhouse is
some of the machines he supposedly used making it. Some
tracks however are pretty close to the old "experimental
house" styles were the producers started using more synths
for pads, strings and different leads.

I'd say a lot of the old ceephax stuff is close to
acidhouse, but still different.

not to say that the rest of the analords was anyway
weak...they blew away most of the other releases this year
but I just think 10 was outstanding. All the others are
still ver very nice.

theres only a couple of acid tracks on the analords I
reckon. I think Analord 10 goes down so well because its
more like what we know of Aphex. Its a likkle bit like an
analogue drukqs.

Analord 10 is by Aphex Twin and 1 - 9, 11, 12 are by AFX
right? I do love AFX but do generally prefer Aphex's output.

Right, the others are done on old hardware, which I like. 10
is does on software, which I also like. I think it's all
pretty fresh sounding, he's twisted a lot of the old analog
equipment cliches.

hmm. if he did, im sure theres still more analogue stuff in
it.
or something.

It sounds more like that to me. Fenix Funk 5 wasn't done on
on old-school analog hardware.
