Never want to see that fucking awful film. I don't care how
good the special effects are. A 30 foot gorilla?? Fuck off.
Pro-christian piece of shit.

So you decided to give it some free publicity instead?

MJ's recent press is good publicity. People say "It's a
shame, his old stuff was so good". Then they go out and buy
the new Hits album he has out.

I had that attitude, then I was forced to go and see it
yesterday with some girl and I grumpily agreed. I was
actually pleasantly suprised. They graphics are incredible
when the dinosaurs are fighting with Kong, the acting (from
Jack Black especially) is suprisingly good, the plot well
developed and it all works pretty well. The 3 hours felt
like 2.

Just a few problems I had with it:

*How did they get a 25 foot gorrilla onto their small ship
to bring him back? Peter Jackson conveniently didn't try
to explain this.

*How did this island remain undiscovered for so long, yet
jack Black's character had a map leading straight to it.
Where did he get it from? Peter Jackson conveniently
didn't try to explain this.

*Why do those bat creatures gang up and choose to attack
Kong precisely the minute that the girl & guy are escaping
from his lair and so putting him off. They've been there for
decades presumably, why that second fight a battle they know
they'll lose? Peter Jackson conveniently didn't try to
explain this.

*Why is there a huge Gorrilla on an island populated by
dinosaurs? Anachronistic or what? Where is his mate? How did
he come to be? Peter Jackson conveniently didn't try to
explain this.

I give it a resounding 5/10

Youre right, jackson didnt explain any of that, and neither
did the writers of the original king kong in 1933. Perhaps,
fantasy film remakes isnt your genre.

*How did they get all these events on tape? Peter Jackson
conveniently didn't try to explain this.

*where was all that music comming from? Peter Jackson
conveniently didn't try to explain this.

erm, you basically all fantasy films characteristcally have
huge errors/gaps in their scripts? Does that make it cool,
does that make it funny? Are you saying you LIKE the film!?
Dolleater conveniently didn't try to explain this.

Gaps? Like lame scientific explanations to support the
fantastical elements of the film's premise, in order to
satisfy a whining fix for the amateur movie critic?

Saw it and its missing that essential movie magic that all
the great adventure yarns have.....
Films like "Raiders of the lost ark", "alien", "big trouble
in little china", "back to the future", "jaws", "dark star",
"logans run" etc.

Amazing special effects don't cut the mustard when part iof
a film that has such shit dialogue, crappy acting,
unsympathetic characters, woefull music, crappy pace, cul de
sac sub-plots and all the holes noted above.

Seems you can polish a turd.

offline hinotori on 2005-12-23 06:52 [#01805474]

the original king kong was not a turn and CG can polish
nothing.... but CD and puppetry all the same thing really i
guess... all tools yeah?
or shall we argue PCs against Mac . . . or guitars against
synths.... hmm......

was bill hicks any good... all i hear is assholes reciting
his routines in my office... boring me shitless....
they claim he was so many things like "intelligent",
"offensive", "funny", "dead" and many others...... but hey
never say he was "kind" or a good man....
hmm anti heros are still popular then....
hmmmm
is jesus an anti hero.... or only for the jewish
and is peter jackson an anti-anti-hero now he is popular. .
.
.....

Erm..

Delerious by name, and by nature -

PJ DIDNT WRITE THE FILM! - someone should have told u!

hma -

3 hours? What the fuck else would u be doing that is so
interesting? You should be grateful for the value for money
these days. Oh and seeing as he spent about 2 years on this
maybe you could just sit on your arse for 3 hours.

Fuckin hell, some people. Oh well seems he wasted about
$50million of his own money trying to please as well.

So he didn't write the film, he's the Director

if a football team plays shit all season, it's the manager
who gets the sack. His players may be the ones making the
mistakes where it counts but he has to take responsability
in the same way that PJ has to take responsability for the
major problems in his film.

Exaph = Peter Jackson?

sure it wasnt great. but some of it was kinda enjoyable
(considering it was a movie about a big monkey.)
and yeah, it didnt explain why it had big monkey and living
dinosaur (and other oversized animals,) but like, the
original had dinosaurs as well. so meh

It's just some nicely crafted entertainment, not Wildlife on
One. There are plot holes, so fucking what? It's just a nice
bit of escapism. Are you pissed off with Terminator 2
because there wasn't a nuclear war in 1997?
