Seriously, bring ear plugs... its the loudest show I've ever
been to, far beyond Dinosaur Jr., which almost made my ears
bleed.

Oh you bastard! You mean those shows in London? I only found
out about them a few weeks ago by which time they had long
sold out. Im so jealous.

Hmmmm this seems like good stuff, first few songs. DVD with
a 'making of' documentary looks like it will be v
interesting too.

I've got tickets for their show at the end of the month...
looking forward to it muchly. The DVD is pretty cool btw,
they are so down to earth guys, not pretentious at all.

Boston.

what is "nice" ? i'm just trying to figure out what Mogwai's
like based on this thread.

which album could you recommend for a Tortoise fan ?

tortoise fan = post-rock, experimental rock fan. some
electronica on the album would be most welcome.

nice melodies - too.

i'm previewing the latest album right now and at track 4 it
already sounds like easy-listening-rock.

Are they in general more quiet or more noisy ?

what do you think

i think you should dig deeper and read this thread plus
listen to some samples.

it is not a very good album

Track 4 is the poppiest thing they've done really, but its
hardly easy listening rock dude. Its shoegazy but heavy as
fuck!

offline clint from Silencio... (United Kingdom) on 2006-03-13 13:29 [#01859073]

Oh sorry you said so far :)

Still the heavy shit is HEAVY SHIT, the quiet stuff's a bit
more easy going.

Its really good, totally not what you'd expect from a 'post
rock' kinda act.

Its a really conventional documentary about the recording,
which basically shows them pissing around in the Castle o'
Doom and not taking it too seriously, messing with the
producer, clips of gigs etc. There is a section where the
drummer displays how to make scrambled egg in a mug. And
there are a lot of talking heads, the different members
being asked which member is the most talented/handsome etc.
Its pretty funny actually, makes me appreciate them more,
cos the postrockGodspeed-style pretentiousness really repels
me these days.

oh good.. I'm always a sucker for cd/dvd packages.. the
documentary included with the last Kills album also was
great.

I'm even buying the new Placebo, eventhough I don't think
it's all that great, but there's a semi-nice dvd included,
so..

I may get that one too... its got a collab with Michael
Stipe I heard, might be interesting.

Documentaries are a great thing to put on the bonus DVD, I
agree. I'm sure everyone will be doing it soon.
