real life miniatures [photos]

offline Paco from Gothenburg (Sweden) on 2005-11-29 15:01 [#01790068]

Some photos I took:

photo 1
photo 2
photo 3
photo 4
photo 5

The miniature-like look comes from the selective focus,
either created entirely in Photoshop, or straight from the
camera with the help of a tilt & shift lens.

wonderful. reminds me of gta, just without the rampaging.
the first one's "photo-realistic", to use an inappropriate
phrase.

i don't like digital blurs

evolume, it's all about blur. I'm not sure why it does
whatever it does to one's brain. The depth of field is
unnaturally short, so the brain automatically files the
photo under miniatures.

Dannn, Canon has a "life-sized" adapter for their 50mm macro
lens. Maybe that could do it?

Paco, excellent job on the photos there. I almost believe
that they really where miniatures :) I hope you expose them
on some contest or something, because I think they should
win, it's very original, you are a true artist, congrats ;)

yann, probably with a large format view camera, where the
lens and filmback can be moved independently from each
other. Compare this to a camera where the lens is fixed and
perfectly lined up in parallel to the film/sensor.

Also, I'd like to point out that this is nothing new. I've
seen a few other blogs with similar shots.

Polly Chandler's site and another cool one, Herminia Dosal

I know Dosal has used a Hasselblad Flexbody, rare-ish model
with movements.
