I heard languages change very rapidly -

EVERYONE knows (at least here in the uk) gay is a common
word that everyone says and i dont know a single gay guy
who
takes offence at it

- so Taff might be right there. 2 years is a long time.

our opinions - i personally love the word gay because its so
damn explanatory and funny...

saying the word gay is gay

If you deserve to get banned for anything it's the fact that
you talk complete shit then attack anyone who doesn't agree
with said shit. And that sir, is how I know you're gay.

You are really tiring to read because you ONLY talk shit and
nothing else. Banging on your potty saying "Gay gay gay!
It's gay to say gay!" Fucking hell mate, go outside, read a
book, try to think about something other than mad beats and
the word gay.

nah i start conversations about other things all the time
but this board is BOC and afx cocksucking recently

it gets boring - i wanna talk about things that are related
to electronic music but not your run of the mill jargon

i like hearing new things, stuff people on the board make,
talking to people who are interesting / can turn me onto new
stuff - etc etc etc

this bored has a tendency to get boaring...im tryinig to
keep it light

you've just stumbled across a million personal diaries
identical in appearance, numbered 1 to 1000000, written by a
million individuals. You are armed only with the
information that you will find only one of the diaries
remotely interesting, you don't know which one it is, and
that you only have one hour to read. which diary will you
choose to read? now go to the xltronic thread with that
same number.

Never ever will anyone be banned based on the usage of a
word. Thats rediculous. It has nothing to do with homophobia
its just that the word has multiple meanings. Could this
word be deemded offensive? Surely.

But to censor the board based on one person puts their wants
and needs above others. Why abolish the use of this word and
not others?

Should we be sensitive to other users feelings? Thats not up
to me say. People can for the most part say what ever they
want here. I dont agree with any of this.

I dont encourage the usage of the word. I dont discourage
it. Its a part of society. It is common place. We all have
varying opinions and thats great. I respect the fact that
manicminer is evidently offended by it. I dont think i use
it to reflect negitivity often but then again i really dont
pay attention.

I myself will try to use alternate words out of respect if i
remember to.

don't try to be harsh by using offensives words against

out of this lovely spread of opinions that has been laid out
on the table that is this thread, I choose to agree with
dog_belcheses one.

it's pretty juvenile, but part of internet lingo - it's
almost as offensive as using 'lol'.

i used to say gay all the time and truth be told, i thought
it was really funny for an 18 year old girl to talk like a
12 year old boy. somehow i got a better understanding of
homophobia and i don't really say it now (watch someone find
some posting of mine to disprove this statement, ha ha), not
because i used to hate gays and now i don't or something,
because in my mind the language i was using was completely
divorced from my opinions on homosexuality, but because i do
not want to be associated with homophobia. anyhow, in my
mind homophobia is just as bad as racism and sexism.

i'm still not entirely bothered to hear it from most other
people. it's probably true that if we were forced to use
other words we'd probably be able to come up with more
descriptive or accurate or somehow better words, but then
again, maybe this drive that so many of us have to be
politically correct is kind of turning us into politicians.
in a way, some of us prefer language that is meaningless to
avoid offending anybody. there is nothing wrong with
wanting to be inoffensive, but maybe it takes some vitality
out of the language.
