There are more important things to life than trying to hold
a serious discussion about a stupid fucking word.

I wouldn't worry too much about serious discussions taking
place. At the merest hint of a Serious Discussion possibly
breaking through, out floods the tide of effluent, mindless
chatter and lumpen idiocy to smother the threat and restore
the natural order, which is basically farting and being
unfunny.

even my gay friends use the word "gay" as a synonym for
"lame."
we all use it. but amongst my circle of close friends (gay
and straight), it's funny because we're making fun of
homophobic people who would say "gay" to be offensive. it's
metahumor.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that several
members of this board appear to be absurdly over-sensitive?

It seems that I see the word "homophobic" being used as an
adjective with negative connotations on here almost daily.

Is this acceptable? Frankly, it disgusts me and I find it
highly offensive and objectionable. I'd be surprised if some

other members of the board didn't feel the same way.

We wouldn't be able to use other wet liberal terms like that
without
being ostracised, so why should people be able to get away
with this blatantly miserable language? We must surely have

some board members with a sense of humour - how do you think
they feel? We
couldn't do the same thing to cheifs, so why should we
be able to do it to homophobic people?

And to those people who use these terms - fucking relax.

in my opinion

Well, among my friends we use the adjective "pedalski" or
the noun "pedał" out of sexual context so frequently
that they lost their original meaning long time ago. Now
they mean "lame" and "stupid tasteless and shameless
asshole" respectively. But it's just among my friends, I
would hesitate to use it ona a messageboard.

Don't apologise, you raised a valid point. I do worry about
people falling over themselves to defend their right to say
"gay" as if their liberties were being curtailed. I guess
that's just my faggy attitude (faggy incidently, has NOTHING
to do with queers).

Well Dan i think it had to do with

"I think that moderators should seriously consider
starting a policy of closing topics that resort to
homophobic vernacular.
"

being related to the use of the word.

using gay to negatively descrribe something is like using
the worrd black to negatively descrribe something, it
subconsciously rreinforrces the idea that being gay or black
is a bad thing. the worrd gay howeverr has been overr used
forr so damn long that the kids using it prrobably have no
idea what it means and can't make that connection. adults
should prrobably know betterr, it's a trrend that should
slowly be fazed out.

All kids should know what gay means just in case there is
one hanging around outside the school gates.
