pretentious fucking name i know, but i dig this album. a
lot of you guys out there are going to say that it isn't as
good as their earlier stuff, but that is mainly because of
your geeky attitude towards music and collecting music and
how much it is worth and stuff. THEIR BEST MUSIC BY FAR!
Might not get as much on EBAY but still...

album.

I never expected bill_hicks to be into new age music.

...yet another troll who thinks his opinion about
that album matters so much that it deserves its own thread
even if there are already a fucking gazillion completely
similar topics.

i know i shouldn't care, but it's a fucking plague - i wish
xltronic was divided in sub-sections so you guys could make
as many "campfire headphase" threads as you want in the
"boards of canada" section without flooding the board so
much.

qrter, what exactly is new-age about it? the fact that it
uses melodies? that it has a laid-back stoned sound? that it
has organic instruments like guitars and strings in it?

maybe, just to please you, BOC should have: 1. removed all
trace of melodies, 2. put the tempo up to about 160bpm in a
weird time-signature, 3. produced all the sounds with
computer blips and scratchy metallic clicks, 4. changed
their name to 'qzaertoq kaeqrl'.

this is just a guess, but i'm guessing that you also think
the following is 'new-age': plaid, dykehouse, murcof, my
bloody valentine, massive attack, beck, dj shadow, the beta
band, four tet, the books, Múm, super furry animals,
manitoba and radiohead etc etc.

maybe BOC should have written a lazy, tuneless, slapdash,
pointless and transparent piece of rubbish in ten minutes
using nothing but Native Instruments software, and then
called it 'on island off'. or something.

People who like this album seem to be bizzarely agressive
and arrogant about people (or "geeks") who don't like it.

I happen to like chilling out to it, but I'm not ashamed to
say I find it a lot more boring than the last two. So what?
A lot of people I've shown it to feel the same way. It's
still a nice listen, but people who aren't enthralled by it
don't just like 160bpm wank music! Maybe the music simply
isn't that engaging for us.

no it's just that any and every discussion of this record is
met by an obligatory post by the same old whiners,
particularly qrter.

if he doesn't like it, why not just not listen? why does he
feel, at every single opportunity, that he has to stick his
foul breath into the discussion? people like to talk about
music. what's wrong with that?
if i don't like a record because it's shit, i certainly
don't waste my life posting nasty comments about it on every
thread on which it appears. i've been reading a few of these
threads and lately it started to annoy me that this guy has
such a negative contribution to make all the time, and i've
noticed other users are getting annoyed with him too.

Emiko from Osaka just loved this album until she was banned
(RIP). (see
Can I change my mind?)
Will I get banned too if I speak out in favour of TCH?
Be careful BoC lovers.
Care for a mutiny to http://fredd-e.narfum.org/guestbook/ ?

I'm not annoyed, rather surprised that he cares. At least
there are some constants in our world, like the TCH thread
--> dissing post by qrter implication. I know he's doing it
for the sake of humanity. Some things must be pointed out
and qrter takes the burden of helping people with bad taste
out. It's painful, but it's good for you.

There are some interesting new members appearing on Zilty,
this is a good thing.

bill_hicks I always agree with, even if he thinks I'm a
cunt, if he even thinks of me at all. But I do think this
album is great. So this is a good thing too.

Good.
