if the goal was to make a signifficant change in electronic
music?

someone strongly influenced by music with few connections to
modern electronic music.

"lol?" sort of makes no sense... ?

anyhow. i have no idea who i would bet on. i mean things
have already changed plenty but not so much in less obscure
arenas, and i'm really not sure if it's going to be a matter
of certain mutations which already exist gaining popularity
or if it will be a whole new strain of pop-experimental type
stuff, as of yet unexplored.

I believe our dear Goran was dismissing "the books" as
pioneering electronic music. Correct me if wrong Goran.

Didnt RDJ say in that mexican interview or whatever that
there is stuff he doesnt release for this reason
(paraphrased)

right about the first part.

and about richard..that is a bit bold thing to say. he could
at least give us a teaser.

yeah, but you know, the idea of laughing out loud in some
inquisitive manner... that seems a bit odd to me. maybe
"lol?!" but not "lol?" or who knows maybe Goran is a more
highly evolved creature than i am and is capable of this
complicated emotional state.

it was meant to mean 'is that a joke' sort of way. i like
books and all but they're no inovators. imo.

I just pictured him dismissively laughing it off. Then again

Personally i dont understand the point in holding it all
back. Thats kind of like having a pile of money and not
spending it or investing it. Just having it. unfruitful.

I only say that because i am curious as to what is hidden in
the archieves.

i think it's quite lame in a way ("ha ha, you'll never hear
these great songs i supposedly made"), and i can understand
him in another way.

it's like if you knew that you had done something really
great and new and exciting, but by putting it out, there
would be countless hordes of brainless imitators doing
third-rate versions of what you created, would you put it
out there? would you introduce your music to the masses
knowing that you could be partially responsible for the rise
of a Nu-Metal or an Emo? would you kill hitler if it would
prevent the holocaust?

so what? so there will be a bunch of fakes - we can figure
out which are the dupes and which are the real ones. why
should he worry about it, as long as his music is good?

No matter what you do you have carbon copies of the
original. I dont think that should hold him back but if it
honestly concerns him it should push him to do things that
cannot be emulated.

But hey i dont really care over all but i am curious

I would say Aphex has passed his significant changes period.
He's done it already.

Autechre are the boys to make changes I reckon. They're
showing a true progression in sound.
