[help] How did this happen?

So, I had my Start Menu in the Windows XP style because it
was the ONLY thing I liked about the XP thing. I've been
using my computer already. Suddenly my recycle bin reappears
on the desktop and my Start Menu has reverted to Classic
style. This is not good. Could my IT department have done
this. If so then the question would be what the fuck are
they doing fucking around doing that? I'm not impressed. You
know when you have things set up just how you like them? I
did and now it's not. I don't fancy calling them for the 3rd
day in a row to sort out another fucking problem. There's
only 1 dude there who it's worth talking to.

Seems like they've blocked some user-privileges indeed.

have you tried right clicking on your desktop, going to
display properties and changing it on the drop down menu to
Windows XP Style?

just an idea, otherwise it probably is your IT dept.

seems like some administrative change, yes... they probably
just want people to be able to work on all computers with
the same interface (there could probably be someone
who gets confused with the "new" interface.. some older
person or something... I don't know, this is just some
theory on how their reasoning could've been)

It could also be to save system resources.

i agree with QRDL and qrter.. but still.. if i were in your
position and my settings had been reverted to the XP style,
i'd throw a mini fucking tantrum.

guess you'll have to speak to them, if the option to change
it back has disappeared..

start/run , type: GPEDIT.MSC then go to: User
configuration/Admin templates/Start menu and.../Force
classic start menu and then set it to "not configured"...

Lets get this straight. I dislike the xp style. It's the
start menu that I like.

IT are well known for fucking around with privileges etc.
I'm just pissed that they'd do something like this. That
said, they're a bunch of useless cunts. I'm no fucking
expert and yet they've called me up on times to ask how to
do things. Jesus.

Well I supposedly have administrator rights. I've been
through this many times with them because it fucks up some
CAD plugins that i use if I don't have those rights. When
they fuck up the whole install fucks up and I have to
reinstall the whole shebang again.

i_x_ten: fuck knows man. Although one of the dudes, whilst a
dumb twat, had the right idea. He quit his job and is now
back on contract at twice the price fixing what he was meant
to fix when he actually worker there. Actually, not a dumb
twat now.

hanal: I seriously am tempted. They don't stop fucking
fiddling.
