no, i'd rather the others responded like that other than
huge drama queen-esque out-bursts that don't really get you
any where.

I'd be more open to a post like yours then lets say
giginger's.

:) thanks!

no, I'm sure you don't try hard enough.

you come up with the statement that these donations have
negative consequences yet you cannot give any arguments for
that statement.

I just don't see what you're on about. so what, some people
can post pictures? that feature is mostly used for dumb fun
anyway.

the difference being ofcourse that I wouldn't advocate what
you are advocating.

I'm not necessarily against your plan, though. but the fact
is that it's hard enough getting people to contribute for a
year, let alone two times a year.

I also think that most of the people who buy premium
accounts do so because of the donation itself, not so much
being able to post pictures for a year.

This is stupid. We're not half way through the month and
we've almost broken even already, in donations alone. Why do
you feel we need double the money?

You've really thought too much about this.

donate because of the donation itself!!!

I think it will all work out better if more people click
the ads on a daily basis.

Maybe some sort of initiative like, this xltronicon 06 idea
could sway more donations. If people on the board knew
eachother better and took steps to become more than just an
internet community do you think they'd be more inclined to
donate?

Well when I can i'll donate what I can.

saying things are going to stay rosy and merry for ever. Are

it.

yeah, but each of us should click the ads five times
a day. the reason is that google probably reacts if a site
has 5758760985984 clicks a day due to them creating some bot
that auto-clicks everything.

How would profits be used to make XLT better? Surely its
just a question of Phobia finding the time to do it.

I don't see why you take it on yourself to address these
issues. Phobia seems to be doing okay atm, he's got the
adverts creating new revenue, I'm sure that if he was
worried about the funds he would say so.

I'll gladly donate $90 to get that troll (Xeron) quietened
for a week with a B7. That way he gets more money donated to
the site to have his blog and I'm given a rest from trying
to decipher what he actually means in his serious posts and
will no longer have to wade through garbage trolling posts
which only seems to say ":)"

did anyone stop you from voicing your opinions? no, they're
just stating different opinions (among them is the opinion
that your opinion wasn't a good one). as far as I can tell,
thus far, no-one's "angry on the internets," and you
shouldn't take opinions as attacks.. at least not yet.

yeah, I was just saying that if everyone (not only
you) clicked the ads, phobs wouldn't have to decrease the
time a premium membership lasted.

also, if montly income goes over 100$, he transfers the
excess to next month. if it goes over by a lot, he
could probably "award" those few members that
actually contribute to the site with premium
memberships or something.

yeah, but don't mind if people swear: it doesn't affect you

swearing, "answer" their opinions or else the entire

Yes he did. But what does that mean? I'm agree with others
here because one day I'll donate for this site too and I
want to donate $10 not $20 for a year. As giginger
said, Phob the past few months has had the hosting paid,
that's enough. In another thread then, Phobia said also that
if it wasn't for premium members xlt wouldn't have existed
at all today. That means he is glad with the current
donations. Why paying more?

offline SValx from United Kingdom on 2005-10-12 10:19 [#01747825]

Xeron you don't seem to have taken on board what people are
saying...

There isn't a set amount that you are allowed to donate. If
people want to donate to become a premium member they have
to pay at least $10 but they can already donate more if they
want to. What is the point of making it so that you HAVE to
donate more to become a premium member? There isn't a
maximum limit of $10. If people want to pay more, they
already can. Increasing the minimum amount you have to
donate for a year's premium account won't encourage more
people to pay more, if anything it will do the opposite.

When people swear in their replies it is often out of
frustration that you're not understanding properly what they
are trying to say. It's not always a personal attack so
don't always take it so personally. I think that if you were
also less personal with your replies and stopped
name-dropping, you'd find that responses would stop being so
hostile
