I'm about to go into a history timed exam on the bloody
Cluniac Monks and I don't have a clue abouyt it at
all...ARGH

I have about 15 minutes until the dreaded thing and have
written out a set of cheat notes. I think I can get away
with it but am I really only cheating on myself if I do
this...damn my stupid morals.

Shall I cheat and get around a B grade or not cheat and get
a D...

is cheating Right?!

cheat, it doesn't matter in the end. all tests are fuckery,
and so is most formal education - get by it as quickly and
easily as you can

don't cheat - you can risk academic expulsion, not to
mention your reputation as a student.

calm down. how about you take that set of cheat notes and
read over it thoroughly? get someone else to study with real
quick and have them drill you on the content of your notes.

it depends on the course. If you really hate it and feel
it's completely unnecessary, go ahead.

I suggest you cheat, but, as punishment for your not having
learnt your history, you must explain to us all the
political and religous significance of the monks of Cluny,
as well as a brief description of their daily routine.

That'll teach you.

If you cheat, you won't learn anything. Granted, most of
the times that I studied I forgot what I learned after the
test was over, so I guess it doesn't really matter.

offline CS2x from London (United Kingdom) on 2005-10-11 08:48 [#01746650]

This exam was no big deal. It's not offical, and doesn't
even affected your placement in the course or any predicted
grades.

So relax.

fact is i'm spending too much time on this bullshit at work.
nevertheless if i had my way you'd be wearing a hair shirt
twenty four hours a day for the next year. i really think
some low level torture could set you right back onto the
path of goodness. the problem with cheating is that the
effects and problems are cumulative and compound, not
immediate and simple. unfortunately you are only capable of
responding to problems that are simple and immediate.
you're digging a hole with a spoon and telling yourself
there's no hole. you'll agree that there is indeed a hole
at about 12 feet down. you might be better off taking up a
narcotic habit to speed the process. i prescribe a large
dose of negative stimulation, otherwise you're looking at a
long, slow decline from which you'll likely not recover.
then again, it's only fair to acknowledge that i don't know
anything about these things at all, at all.

If you can get away with it, do it. I cheated in loads of my
GCSE by hiding notes a pen! The fella next to me in my
german exam saw me cheating, and just smiled like he didn't
give a fuck.

haha!

I feel bad for CS2x though because he sat in the same exam
at me but for some reason he chose not to use cheat notes. I
commended him on it however I will have the final laugh when
the grades come...I hope

plaidzebra : thanks, I think I understand what you're
saying..that by cheating I'm only deluding myself into
thinking I'm better than I really am at the subject and when
the final Big exam comes and I can't cheat I'll be fucked,
right?

Xeron : you can post pictures now? Your posts will be
on average 300% longer and 76.3% more pointless. Great..

Nice job! Stick it to them. I don't think there's anything
wrong with cheating, most of this stuff is just unimportant
formalities. If you can save yourself some time in lieu of
studying, that's fabulous.

I had a bunch of physics formulas written on a sheet I
stashed inside my calculator's battery niche, that was cool.
I skipped so many classes that I needed to have something to
level the playing field, so to speak. I haven't been in a
physics class since, I just needed that credit, so it's all
gravy.

"level the playing field"

great line Ophecks. Today I was simply levelling the playing
field because there just so happens to be a few people in
the class with a higher IQ than me who are sad enough to
waste their lives at home revising. You made me feel a lot
better about it. :)

Also the teachers a bitch so she can mark my good essay and
feel disappointed she can't write a big D at
the bottom of it.

no, i'm saying that the wheel of karma will whirl around and
someday you'll enter the hospital needing surgery and in a
twist of poetic justice the surgeon on staff at that moment
will have cheated his way through medical school and will
remove your testicles (which you don't need but you'd like
to keep if you can) instead of your gall bladder.

i'm saying don't play dice with your balls, doc.

you stop. Everyday is a test man.

I would say that if knowledge of Cluniac Monks is vital to
your planned future career, cheating is a bad idea. However
if it's got nothing to do with what you want to do with your
life, it's not a big deal.
