all be old squares.

there are some bands that are doing similar music..only
worse.

hm, i don't like playing the violin much at all, so i guess
i'll take piano. can i do weird things to the piano to make
it sound weird or are we going to sound like one of these
pop bands that the kids listen to nowadays? because my
initial tendancy would veer my playing towards the
avant-garde, but if i can get the chance to meet some sort
of a celebrity, i will sell out and play in the major scale.

interpol isn't even close to as good as joy division. joy
division wrote at least two good songs and interpol hasn't
written any.

with the advent of the internet and the information age we
don't need another nirvana. niche culture has become
mainstream to the point that the mainstream culture marketed
to us on mtv, vh1, radio, etc is so easy to ignore that it
is now irrelevant. times have changed, nirvana and social
revolutions are remnants of a bygone era.

I have really been getting into Nirvana, lately. Heart
shaped box is such a wicked track. I think they live up to
the hype. I was only into uk music back when they were big,
but time and distance have helped me hear them with fresh
ears.

interesting.

what I would love is another era like the "final 80s first

grounds... with all the ilusions and inocece

Every new band is like Nirvana.

What about The White Stripes?

Maybe they are a bit more retro, more country less glam.
But I dig them real good, man.

Rock is dead. (RIP). It used to be dangerous, exciting, the
sort of thing your granny wouldn't like.

New black urban music with obscene language and repetive
drumbeats and artists associated with guns is fillin that
void.

Seems like there won't ever be another ''revolution'' in
music, it's been a long long time. The whole landscape just
seems too developed and mature. I have no problem with this,
it just shows how much good music is out there. Revolutions
aren't needed anymore. Although I guess a revolution in the
pop-music sense would be really welcome.

I think we need a band like the beatles more

Yeah why settle for a Nirvana revolution when we could have
a Beatle revolution?

offline cuntychuck from Copenhagen (Denmark) on 2005-10-06 05:34 [#01742479]

why the fuck would you need a new pop band to revolutionize
the world? whats the fucking point? i seek refurge here from
stuff like that.

No, we're not talking about a pop band, just a movement on
par with a Beatle or Nirvana ''revolution''.

Honestly though it usually takes a popular artist to do
that. Making a revolutionary idea palatable to the masses is
something you need insane talent and charisma to do.

offline cuntychuck from Copenhagen (Denmark) on 2005-10-06 05:46 [#01742486]
Points: 8603 Status: Lurker | Followup to Ophecks: #01742482

but what is the fucking point of such a band? you know, lets
say we have this totally revolutionary 'rock/pop' band and
everyone gets on their feet and really feel it, like with
nirvana or beatles, so lets say about 2 years away from that
every radio, tv or internet will drive you nuts in the same
thing. clones and clones and clones.

i dont think music is good developed that way, i dont think
its a healthy influence.

the best way to discover something revolutionary is to seek
out the different genres. and who cares about massappeal
anyway, does it really matter to anyone other than
attentionseeking twats?

offline Ophecks from Nova Scotia (Canada) on 2005-10-06 05:56 [#01742488]

Well that's just it, there needs to be something that
transcends what's popular and grows popular music, then it
has a trickle down effect. There have been loads and loads
of great, artistically relevant ''popular artists'' with
indispensible bodies of work. But there aren't really any
nowadays. But like I said, I don't think it's surprising...
we probably don't NEED an all-encompassing thing like the
Beatles anymore. It could probably never happen at this
point, we've come too far. Now there's small-scale
revolutions.

(I don't think Nirvana was revolutionary, there was just a
convergence of things to make them big)

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2005-10-06 05:58 [#01742489]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

i wasn't thinking of new movement or something, just a band
that would come up with as interesting music as nirvana was
making. there were never any clones of it (at least they
haven't even come close to it) because it seems like it's
just impossible for other bands to come to that level.

drunken mastah, they weren't hard??
