Opera now free

I officially like Opera lots as my main browser now - it's
faster than Firefox. I like how it remembers what pages I
had open and I like the way the zoom works, enlarging images
as well as text. overall it's fun to use. I am having a
"positive internets experience".

Only thing I miss from Firefox is the DownThemAll extension,
but I can use the site explorer tab on Free Download Manager
for the exact same functionality.

Opera tip: tools -> preferences -> advanced -> history ->
check documents "always".

The only thing I find dissapointing in Opera is that
supposedly revolutionary e-mail client. I have no idea how
to retrieve an e-mail from the bin.

And call me paranoid, but there is something fishy about the
fact that it became free. Maybe they're going bancrupt and
this is their way of saying good-bye. How would they benefit
from opera now? It's free, there's no banner, they're not a
group of open-source enthusiasts... Why free?

It's not as naff as I remember it, though I can't find much
that makes me want to favour it over Firefox. I can't think
when I'd want to zoom in on a page, maybe when my eyes start
going, or there's a high resolution pr0n pic I want to
explore, but, hmmm, I'm not the person to ask really.

LAZY_TITLE

- I got a bit pissed with that and how the quick 16.01
update now looks. (I think Mozilla are losing it a bit with
those updates every few weeks.) So, I installed FF 17 Beta -
but my "enter" and "F5" buttons don't seem to work in it. So
I installed FF 10 ESR - which seems to work even faster than
newer versions. Also, my fav Greasemonkeys work fine - so
I'll guess I'll stick to FF 10 for a while...

BUT I'm thinking about leaving that old FF cow for good and
make Opera my main browser (I also use Chrome now and then)
- good idea ? y/n ?

ALSO is there really one secure browser these days ? From
what I've read so far - there probably isn't....

im on mac os and greatly prefer chrome to firefox.

opera sadly lags in terms of performance on that platform.
also it doesn't have the "slickness" that chrome does, and
if you're using greasemonkey and such i think you'll find
opera's offerings in terms of extensions lacking.

altho if im going for speed and not user experience i open
up safari, which is just fire in its native os.

as for scripts and extensions, to check what works and what
doesn't, I'm gonna try userscript converter: LAZY_TITLE

...and the sooner I'll stick to one browser the better cause
I'm using FF10ESR and Opera11 in Windows and FF16 and
Opera12 in Linux.
