It's to tape down luggage to my bike and to cover wires trailing across the floor at a party I may be DJing at next weekend.
I'm disappointed that considering how useful duct tape is, they still haven't solved the problem of the side of rolls being sticky and getting covered in fluff and dirt.

check the "freshness date" that's printed on each roll. if the tape is past it's prime, or smells slightly of balsamic vinegar, reject the roll and choose a fresher and better product.
i found this info on the "duct tales" website, a wealth of info regarding this remarkable product.

Have you got a link? I couldn't find the site...
Do you reckon duct tape is a better 'miracle product' than WD40? Do you agree that it is a wonderful thing that you can get duck brand duct tape, as well as WD40, even in supermarkets?
Sorry for going off topic i_x_ten.

i agree the wide availability of useful items such as duct tape, wd40 and twist ties is wonderful. i just used some wd40 the other day on a rusty bolt.

You swine, it's toxic, isn't it? That's why you wanted me to smell it!
i agree the wide availability of useful items such as duct
tape, wd40 and twist ties is wonderful. i just used some wd40 the other day on a rusty bolt.
Useful tip:
When trying to free seized bolts.
1. administer WD40, give it a light (only a light) tap with a hammer (use a folded over rag to protect the surface). Re-apply WD40, then heat it. Depending on the material, use either a blowtorch (if it's all metal and discolouration doesn't matter), if it's near anything more sensative, just put a halogen worklight next to it for ten minutes.
Due to some bizarre rule of physics, holes get smaller (rather than larger as you would think) when heat is applied and the fact that the bolt will probably be made of a different material to that which it is screwed into, means they will expand at different rates. This will likley result in the seal between the two breaking, making it much easier to undo. Reapply wd40, then try again to undo it. If it doesn't work, leave it overnight, then repeat the same thing the next day. Do this for a whole week before giving up and drilling the bolt out/taking it to a garage/machinist's place.
2. If at any time you get the situation where it undoes a small amount (typically only a few degrees), then catches again, don't force it. Instead, apply some WD40, then tighten/loosen it the few degrees several times, reapply WD40 and repeat. You may well find it suddenly comes all the way undone. If not, go back to where you left off in step 1.
3. Once it's out, consider replacing it with a newer screw. Even if you do use a new one, be sure to coat the screw you put back into the hole in molyslip/copaslip and torque it to the manufacturer's specification to ensure you can get it out more easily next time.

well i prefer hardware to software anyways, because it's something tangible.
it's one of the very few pieces of digital kit in my lineup.
i did try to go wholly analog, but the whimsy's of the Nord and the Elektron Machinedrum won me over
lol
