Macs and software

I currently use a PC but I don't buy much software,
generally getting cracked stuff via torrents and sheeeyit.
Naughty, but nice.

I'm sort of thinking of getting a Mac, but I'm worried that
cracked software will be too difficult to get hold of and
I'd have to buy stuff. I don't want to buy stuff.

Am I right to be worried?

if you get a mac you will spend lots of money. you can get
express however for 200 quid which is amazing for logic. but
other plug ins are hard to come across. even though you can
probably get everything you ned on mric or whatever.

What if I just want to download, say, the latest Sequencer
or some VJing software for instance. Is it possible?

"Am I right to be worried?"

No. But then again, sometimes it nice to pay for the stuff
you use.

Oh, come on. It's never *that* nice to pay for things. It's
nice to give money to charity, it's nice to give money to
friends and family, but it's never particularly gratifying
to hand money over to faceless corporations.

From where, exactly, do you derive pleasure in doing so?

I´m not usually buying stuff from "faceless corporations" -
just as when it comes to music it´s often stuff from small
scale companies devoted to bring me a great product and
delivers that + support when needed.

I haven't been able to find much mac software to pirate

That's disappointing..... how about via Bit torrent? What
about downloading a crack/serial number after you've
downloaded the "trial period" copy of a piece of software?

offline Dannn_ from United Kingdom on 2005-08-09 07:35 [#01689123]

Finding serials is always easy, but I don't know any music
programs worth owning thats you can get that way. I don't
know any good torrent sites for mac software but there
probably are some. I managed to get workable copies of
Reason 2.5 and Traktor DJ Studio from Suprnova but thats
about the sum of it, I ended up buying Logic Express and
I'll probably buy Traktor before long.

Hmmm. Cheers. I'll bear all that in mind.

The reason I want to get a Mac is for VJing. My PC is a bag
of wank for it, but my friend has a G4 Powerbook and it
seems to work really well. Do you know what the minimum spec
Mac laptop would be necessary for VJing and stuff?

Sorry i know nothing about vjing

I can't really talk when it comes to piracy but I do believe
that if you use something a lot then you should pay for it.
I used Reason a lot so when version 3 came out I bought it.
I'm starting to use Ableton Live! a lot more now. If I
continue to use it more and more then I'll get the next
version that comes out.

Most BitTorrent sites with registration have a dedicated Mac
section.
Check out Audionews. They have everything
