I asked the other week if there were any decent albums from
this year and met with a lukewarm response...now I visit
Saturn in Alexanderplatz and discover new stuff from Tosca,
Jaga, Herbaliser, Vadim etc. etc.

Shame on you all... :-)

most of them are ninja tuners, not many people are hardcore
ninjatune fans here from what I've observed (plenty of
people like amon tobin though)

Er, well, I bought it, and I'm gonna listen to it
soon...it's actually called

One Self - Children of Possibility

and I bought it above seven others mainly cos it was the
only one that wasn't in stock many times over...

Further bulletins as events warrant...

Thats one reason why its a solid album. The mood is never
spoiled by a odd track.

there's definitely something to be said about consistancy,

there so many artists out there htat make awesome tracks,
and then throw all kinds of different tracks into the mix
and ruin the flow, FSOL does it, >[] does it, freeform does
it, and mu-ziq does it FAR too much.

bola, utabi and global goon kick so much more arse because
they're albums flow so well, it's great to hear artists try
new things, but I hate it when it comes at the expense of
album flow.

on go plastic I'm so glad that >[] put "my red hot car"
first, only because if it was in the middle it would have
DESTROYED teh flow that album has..

heh, I've been guilty of doing that with my own music (no
more of that tho). It was kinda rushed despite that I spent
over a year on it. But I agree. Tosca's "Suzuki", Gridlock's
"Trace", Vesna's "Snow Sences" and Bola's "Soup" are all
very nicely put together and are some of my favorite albums.

generally gridlock makes great albums

it's easy to make a nice flowing album when you only stick
to one style, which is what most of them do, I know you
don't like VS but he's f**king great at doing the concept
album thing, considering that he probably WANTS to go all
over the shop

Well i'll definately hand it to VS for being consistent ;)

he always has drums but that's about the only consistant
element

It's wicked, get it...

One Self - Children Of Possibility

The main MC is the bloke from Bullfrog (Kid Koala's sometime
group) and his style dovetails nicely with that of Vadim...
