i was on some EXCELLENT festival in turin the past week. some splendid acts went on and you can all be sorry to have missed an epic afx show :-) AFX (with chris cunningham) it started off a bit disappointing - they were playing all those cunningham vids which have (almost) all been seen before, but then it happened - the best afx set i've heard so far! he played almost exclusivly only his own music, mixed together perfectly (he even played xmd5a!! modified!!) and almost all the songs were different to originals, quite a few analord tracks, druqks songs - modified mt. saint michel among others and i hope this leeks on slsk!! later they brought two 'doll' dancers on stage with the windowlicker masks and they were moving around in that wicked way..people went crazy..it was what aphex fans would want paradise to be like :) he ended the set with some dark jungle, noise - in smojphace style only better, and for finale some italian pop songs just so he pissed off the crowd a bit. |

THROBBING GRISTLE im really starting to apreciate this band. it was their second gig since they split up in '81 i think but it was like they didn't get any older..the music was wicked (especially because of fantastic soundsystem), dark, intense, mental stuff..and p-orridge is fantastic, well crazy and all - he talks to crawd constantly, and it's like he was born to perform..check out the boobs :) |

italians are crazy about afx - and he always gets he always pulls his best acts on big festivals. i asked promotors how many ppl attended abd they said 40.000 but that is a bit steep i think..anyhow, i was quite upfront and it was amazing to see all those people to get wild to the music. im uploading a couple of very short clips to yousendit - i'll post links when it's finished. woofer and tridenti, you two can be sorry about this..and it's like an hour driver from where you two are..jav |

PAN SONIC they played a noisy set, a bit harsher than kesto and that was that..nothing too exciting, but the sound was excellent on those speakers! gvarek, it was a 5 hour drive for me as well infact, but it was worth it!! oh soo worth it :) |

JAGA JAZZIST i don't like the new album that much, but luckly they only played one song from it and then moved to their older stuff which is way more jazzy! they're brilliant live which is only normal for a 10 piece band :) martin horntveth is totally amazing on drums! he can switch from different styles in a blink of an eye :) |

NEW ORDER well, im not too fond of their music, but they started playing joy division again so that's splendid!! it was wonderful to hear 'love will tear us appart' and 'she's lost control' live!! complete setlist: crystal, regret, love vigilantes, krafty, transmission, atmosphere, everything's gone green, waiting for the sirens' call, true faith, bizarre love triangle, love will tear us apart, temptation and encore: your silent face, she's lost control, blue monday. these pics all turned out shitty..sorry |

TONY WILSON & SHAUN RYDER yes, they both played a dj set :D first wilson, and he was showing how he's not too good with turntables, but how often do you get to see a man of his reputation playing music to like 50 people - there were another 200 outside as the club was so small :) then it came ryder's turn - by the time he was scheduled he was so drunk he could barely stand, so he asked a local dj if he can do all the mixing and playing and he was just telling him what songs to put on and was 'singing' and shouting along the music, then he sort of passed out after a while and then peter hook - hookey!! who happened to be there took over and was really enjoying himself - he played 3 hours ago infront of 40.000 people and seemed a bit bored, and then he dj's for like 50 and goes all crazy and funny..a sight to remember!! it was the best example of why it was calld MADCHESTER..it was the best club party i've ever witnessed!! the club went completly mad ofcourse :D it lasted well into morning! |

tony wilson - the guy who 'discovered' joy division, owned a club hacienda..he's the guy who made manchester music scene in 80's happen!! if you're interested in finding what was it all about there's a film titled '24 hour party people' which is real good and will give you most of the answers :) shaun ryder - happy mondays singer!! one of the most important names of the manchester music scene..bud saddly he's really quite fucked up now..must be coz af all the drugs and drink..i doubt he was even aware of where he was last night..he's a legend though, ho it would be enough only too see him sit there :) peter hook - the new order member!! |
