If someone is doing really live stuff on a laptop, it would be pretty nice to see what's going on. I wonder how a large projection of the activity in whatever music program being used would work? You know-it'd be like watching a guitarist or whatever, only with the thing being "played" a computer sequencer package. If it were, say, Appleton Live, you'd be watching things being dropped in and out and effects being manipulated and so on.
You could rave to it, or watch what the heck the guy's up to on the projection, or do both.
Or maybe it's just a crap geeky idea. ;-)

i prefer trippy visuals when i'm out dancing my sox off on drugs, not visuals of an audio app on a pc..
but maybe that's just me. :o

i dont think they would want to give away how they make the music, sort of spoils the magic of it...doesent it?

Well, it wouldn't be giving away how it was made. It would just be showing how they are manipulating stuff in a live context.
I mean, I watched Vibert doing his stuff in Traktor after I got too tired to dance any more, and it was pretty fun to see what was going on. A fair few people stood behind having a look too.

ive thought about htis a lot too. just pressing play and as the sequencer /whatever goes, add in vsts, turn knows move stuff. slice beats and all the other crazy stuff you can do in something like Reason, FL, or Native Instruments stuff. That would be a good idea.

It was just a fucking example.
Was it a bad one? I've never even used the software. But people seem to reccommend it for live stuff.

there are people who do this.
I think I saw a picture of global goon playing a gig, with Live being projected.
Could be wrong though... but if definately seen it done.

i have thought about this as well mr. cs2x, but instead of a software thing being projected, i would love to see say for instance... underworld with their mammoth loads of hardware synths, samplers, sequencers, drum machines and tools, being projected... i think the computer tweeking should be left in the dark.... because it ruins the surprise for me anyway... i don't want to know if they're just hitting play and letting the computer screen play along... i want to see the hardware being manipulated

Yes, you're right. That would be even better! Especially with bands like Underworld and all their hardware stuff.
But my idea was for those artists who do live stuff on laptops, and *aren't* just pressing play, but are in fact doing quite a bit of on-the-fly manipulation. I'd just be nice to see them doing what they are doing, I guess. I can see why people would disagree, but to me it's just like playing another instrument.

i am liking the noise that comes out of his laptop right now

I am actually not bothered as long as the music is good. When it comes to my own live performences there isn't that much to look at you know.
