I saw this guy live at a rave or two, and his sets were
great.

However, "Full English Breakfast" is pretty crap. It's funny
in places and sometimes really energetic, but really it's
just track after track of thoughtless sample mashups.

I think his name suits him.

You should have said yes, just for the "There's no Buisiness
Like Propa Rungleclotted Mashup Bizznizz" track. It's really
good.

On second thoughts, the album is actually so bad. It's more
interesting then a lot of dnb out there, or Kid606's lame
mashup albums.

mashup is pretty bad in general

Isn't Amon Tobin's stuff mostly just other music sampled and
thrown together though? Albeit a bit more skilfully.

mashups are fantastic! bastard pop has a lot going for it.
taking the familiarity aspect of what people generally like
about something and giving it a new tilt. oh, and these
musicians tend to view music as FUN and ENJOYABLE to make
and listen to.

oh plz how on earth could you compare amon tobin to
shitmat.
seriously, you could train a monkey to put a amen break
under a pop tune. beacause that is what mashup basicly is.
amon tobin cuts and pasts differents bits of sound together
to something completly new and more important to something
GOOD.

Good point.

Silly post I made, there. I didn't see a resemblence in the
output, just perhaps the method. Amon Tobin is far more
enjoyable.

I fully agree, mashups are great, quality fun and very cool
for parties. Some people are just too caught up in the
pretentious "smart & intelligent music" to let themself
enjoy something that's not trying to be beautiful or deep.

I've heard some great mashups.
kid 606 - Slammin' Ragga Bootleg Track for example.
but I've heard ALLOT of crap ones. but it's the same with
every style of music. you have good stuff and bad stuff.

*sigh*
I do not listen to any of this to be "smart" or out of
pretense. If I don't happen to enjoy mr. Shitemat, then that
is that.

With that said, "There's no Buisiness Like Propa
Rungleclotted Mashup Bizznizz" is great fun, along with a
few tracks off "Kill Sound Before Sound Kills You" by kid
606.

No, don't worry, I know what you mean. :)

Some people can't just have a laugh and listen to something
a bit more silly and fun.
