It will be very random and crazy, and will contain plenty of
dark scenes with immense violence and highly charged sexual
energy.

No I haven't. :)

I've seen all his movies bar that one, in fact. Along with
Dune.

Isn't this his first try with shooting in digital? Maybe
he's too distracted with the new technology to pay any
attention as to what the thing'll actually be about. :D

There was a post about this at another forum, and I remember
reading him saying something which basically implied he shot
random things and found they were connected afterwards. I
wish I could find the link...

Anyway, I don't really mind, because I've always enjoyed his
movies and I accept the fact that they are not intended to
be understood in the same linear way as other films. When I
read interviews with him, I get the impression that even he
doesn't understand his films in the traditional sense.
They're more to do with themes and imagery.

Or maybe I've missed the entire point!

Hmm Dune. Much prefered the book. But that might be just me.

OH qrter!

LAZY_TITLE

Apparently there was a short promo reel shown at this years
Cannes, featuring all the actors in rabbit costumes, but it
was very low key and wasn't caught by the mainstream media.
Hmm I think perhaps he has been unfortunately outlynched by
that richard kelly chap!

CS2x - yeah, I think he views all his projects as a
work-in-progress. He never has any set ideas to start with.
Very artistic obviously. :)

But isn't this new one's title something to do with a
district in LA? or something? Very mysterious. Looking
forward to it.

he works very intuitively.

there is this story told by Michael Anderson (who played
Mike, the Man from Another Place in "Twin peaks") about
Lynch sitting in the editing room with Mary Sweeney (his
editor and wife) and Lynch suddenly saying "oh! so maybe
that's what I meant when I shot that."

Yes apparently Inland Empire refers to a lower-class,
overpopulated residential part of LA, kind of the polar
opposite to the Mulholland Drive part, I think.

Hell YES !!!!!!!! I hadn't heard about this !!!! I'm a huge
lynch fan, although I KNOW I'll miss the dirty 8mm
approach.... I think the film will lose some of it's
ambiance..... ::shrugs:: oh well :D will see thrice anywho
:P

qrter - hehe. nice. But Lost Highway? I watched that and I
didn't even know who killed who. Then rammstein started
playing and I just sat there in sheer stupidity shaking my
head. It was very nice visually though. Especially the
desert.

The inland empire consists of San Bernadino county and
Riverside county, (east of LA county)

There's always a fantastic head injury in all his movies.
can't wait for this one

I think you'll find mine has mellowed rather nicely over
time, my man!

Yes I think that was refering to the red room scene, wasn't
it? I think I remember from the twin peaks dvd extras

Yeah, that desert scene was beautiful. :)

Don't worry, I didn't understand Lost Highway either.

CS2x - great - join me in ignorance. Some guy had a theory
it was supposed to mimic a recurring nightmare, when you
seen information again and again without interpreting it.
Especially with the abstract visuals and totally obscure
dialogue. :S

I watched lost highway about 300 times just to try and
understand it..... but then I realized that it wasn't about
being understood, and just took it for the visual art piece
that it was..... I thought I'd hate it if I didn't
understand it, but it got better once I accepted it...
