you forgot ceri that you have been given powers to guard the board, not to threat others for what in your opinion is wrong. no, that's exactly the "powers" we have. we have rules to stick to enable our opinions to be guided, but its our opinions that we have to use to make the descision. Personally I disagreed with most of the way that Jedi Chris moderated, but that's not been my point. |

Opto and cunty both have plenty to contribute to the mb when there isn't a fight going on. I don't think anything is going to be resolved in this thread. Jedi Chris banned himself. You don't make sense, my 'threats' as such were warnings, the very warnings which people have complained of a lack of where banning has been concerned, of late. "will you take the responsibility of judgement someone without proper trial ?" Yes, happily. The evidence is there; your posting history. This isn't a death sentence, it's stopping you being a pain in the ass on an internet messageboard: We don't need 12 men good and true to decide to ban you. What do you think we do, hold some xltronic high court where all the moderators and webmasters fly out to one location, then vote on issuing a temp ban for a particular user? I find it ironic that those who behave in an immature and anti-social manner, who don't seem to give a damn about the board are those who take the matter of being temp banned the most seriously. People who I'd count as 'good' users I've had cause to temp ban in the past have later turned out to be the most civil about it and no longer bear a grudge relating to the matter. It's the petty, spiteful people, that the board really doesn't need who act as though being temp banned is tantamount to physical assault. Thanks for letting me know you were temp banned recently though. That has helped me make the decision to up it to a permanent ban, should I choose to issue it. Cheers. |

There's a lot of guys getting warnings here today because somebody has spat the dummy out of the pram. Somewhat reminiscent of jedi_chris methinks. I think it's time for phobiazero to re-evaluate the character of the people he assigns to be moderators. It shouldn't be the guys that lick his ass the most, it should be guys who are fair and honest. |

My threat to Bill Hicks was as a result of him effectively calling me a liar. ... For someone to accuse me of doing so, especially on a matter that is so factually black and white, is certainly worthy of a warning of a temp. ban. i'm sorry, but what has this got to do with moderating the board? to me this seems like a personal issue/fight between you and him, in which you take advantage of your position as mod by threatening to temp. ban him 'cause he calls you a liar i'm not planning on getting all mods on my back, but imo this is just another example of how some mods solve their personal matters with their 'powers' and just threaten and ban the users they don't like |

I, as a moderator, declined, giving my reasons. He persisted in his demands for this user to be banned. Therein lies the link to the board/moderation, as opposed to a 'personal fight'. On top of that, his calling me a liar is suggesting I cannot be trusted (and therefore ought not to be a moderator), again, a 'moderation issue'. Either: a) You're can't make the distinction. b) You didn't see all the original converstation and are now jumping in, towards the end. c) Both of the above. Let me give you some examples of non-moderation arguments: I say I like artist x, you slate them, we disagree about it. You say you like artist x, I slate them, we disagree about it. As above, but replace artist with: film title, videogame title, particular release, particular track, particular mix of a track, etc. you get the above. Anything involving: users, banning people, closing topics, the board itself, mods, the FAQ, etc. is a moderation issue. Do you see the distinction? If I were to ban someone because they disagreed with me that Rob D - Clubbed To Death is the best piece of music ever written, I could see your point. That's the sort of behaviour you are alluding to (and I agree it would be completely unreasonable and you'd be justified in complaining about it) yet the case with Bill Hicks is nothing of the sort. |

As far as i can see he only said things like: I QUESTION YOUR INTEGRITY ... I think jedi_chris = marshmelo... etc. he didn't persist his demand for the user to be banned, he only sais he questions your integrity, who sais those remarks have anything to do with you being a moderator? you are the only one making that link; i cannot be trusted (andtherefore ought not to be a moderator) i just see it as a personal 'attack' of him saying you cant be trusted. ban and threaten for that if you like, but it looks to me that you cant make the distinction (just like other mods) maybe this shows that i question the qualities of some mods, that probably means i'll get banned |

I dont understand why thinking Marshmelo is Jedi should be deemed in a negitive context by Ceri. I think its odd that as soon as this fiasco occured that he started to post defending Jedi. No offense to any party here but so many people have had multiples its really not that hard to understand that people here think that every new account is a multiple. Think of the post skyfarmer era. Everyone jumped on every new account thinking it was him. Although a percentage of them probably were there is another percentage that was thinking " i just made a hello post and i got teh b7. wtf?" Just because you say you know something doesnt mean we have to believe it. We are individuals capable of making up our own minds for that matter. Again no offense Ceri! My friend was banned last year because during a IP check his was similar to mine and we both had the same service. I almost couldnt believe it. Obviously you are going to find people that live close to each other that have the same provider. So i know how it is from that aspect. Ceri, I am not calling you a lair or anything. I respect how you have handled yourself in this thread. I dont agree with some of your views but that is what makes the world a great place... differing opinions! |
