How many wicked records (vinyl) have you seen with these
words cut into the run out grooves?

on a record, you have the normal music then at the end you
have the bit where the music has stopped and the grooves are
far apart, and the needle goes to the middle then is on the
last groove and just goes in a circle.
Between these last grooves loads of 'bangin choons'
specifically dnb, but others i have seen have the words
"SIMON - THE EXCHANGE" refering to simon at the mastering
place called the exchange in london.

He has a brilliant ear for mastering.
Perhaps I'm the only one who reads the grooves?

I've run across it, but it may have been someone else from
the exchange or maybe just the exchange. How many records
do you have that play backwards ?

goto abb5 under afx in the disco. the last picture shows
writing in the run out groove for example.

backwards? erm well all of them. just spin the platter the
wrong way?!??!

No I meant ones that start in the center of the record and
end at the outside.

Front 242 used to have some interesting stuff scratched on
their records. I'll try and find some.

er what do they even exist? never seen one, but it sounds
like a stupid idea, even decent needles cut the wax more
when you go the wrong way, i would dread to do that on a
home hifi, the vinyl would be knackered within a few plays!!

yeah they do. I haven't got one. it's no stress to the
equipment, the record still spins the right way. it's only
the groove that is reversed, like k_ said

silly: it wouldnt go the wrong way, it would just spiral
from in to out instead of out to in

I have 2 or 3 that do that and play fine...Underground
Resistance I think had one that had 2 possible outcomes,
like you might get one track or you might get a different
one, maybe vlari has that one and can vouch.

just found this wow this guys done tons of different
things!!

sorry i misunderstood, never seen one, but sounds
wicked, must be well weird kinda like somehting is not quite
right, like the time i bought cylobotnia and the bloke put
the vinyl in the proper sleeve after id had a listen and it
didn't appear in the little round window, cos the window was
actually a white circle, haha we thought that was great, but
that's anothger story.

are corresponding with someone?

my mate and i followed that for some time.

haha, that might very well be. reading run-out grooves are
so fucking nerdy, but alot of fun nontheless :)

simon's cuts are ok..i say that cuz he makes instrumental
stuff sound the fucking cat's meow, but when you have really
delicate shit like vocals and that sort of thing, his cuts
often distort and get all nasty if you don't have like the
top of the top audiofile needles...like m44gs & other dj
needles can't handle the volume that simon cuts. i'd favor
a slightly quieter cut that was less distorted...

if you'd notice, warp & autechre are using someone else
now.

now take that for nerdy.

right?
