I notice that Richard James has a deceased brother by the
same name. This same odd situation happened to Salvador
Dali. Does anyone else find this interesting?

Dali also poured hot coffe with milk over himself in the
morning because he said it felt nice.... does richard?

he also almost strangled himself because he wanted to do a
lecture in a heavy metal diving suit.... Beard? Genius?
hmmm......

Note: this isnt something absurd i write for funs sake, its
true!

Some of Dali's paintings are quite brilliant. Another
connection with AFX: It is said the video to "On",was
influenced by the works of Dali.(Jarvis Cocker directed this
as i'm sure you all know by now). Many thanks for your time
and patience. }:>

Dali was pretty tripped out. How about a Dali exhibiton in a
gallery where Aphex music is played? That would be cool.

Richard is brilliant!

Dali was even more so. =)
His work is a testiment to the originality of a unique and
exccentric man.

I believe we all would like to leave such a reputation
behind!

perhaps the most talented, in absurdity and technique.

I saw a doc recently about the Dali-Disney linkup...could
have been amazing but Dali being Dali was a bit too much for
WD to swallow and the project got aborted...

Disney was pretty avant-garde for his day...You can really
see the influence of Surrealism in Fantasia; and that was
produced back in days when not that many people even knew
what surrealism was....

I seem to recall RDJ once stating that Dali was his
favourite artist...they do seem to have many similar themes
i.e. Dreams, Childhood etc...

nacmat, I saw a spanish bullfight (novillada) in Arles,
France. Pretty intense, to be sure. They have Course
Camarguaise over there, too.

Nacmat: I've only been to Spain once, to Menorca. It was
really nice, excellent snorkelling and very cheap. The
locals were all friendly and helpful and the hospitality in
hotels and restaurants were spot on! _/\_

The Dali Musium just North of Bacelona is fantastic. I fail
to see the comparison between the two, apart from attempting
to push the boundries, but isn't this what true artists do?

And as much as I like the Aphex Twin, I think that Dali was
far more pivitol to the way we look at art.

If anybody is interested in the surealist movement they
should have a look at my favorite surrealist, Merit
Openhiem, you will recognise her stuff even if you don't
know who she is.

For those in the US....there is an excellent Dali museum in
St. Petersberg, Fla. i also believe there is one in
Florence, Italy that i have yet to see! =}

Great point about both artists pushing the boundries and
opening OUR eyes, ears...gotta love that.

MC Escher's drawings are AMAZING, and i am familiar Openhiem
as well! you should post a link so people will be exposed!
=)

Regarding Spain...i have spanish blood running through these
veins of mine, it would be hard for me not to love your
country! =0) however i do take exception to the bull
fights....bloodsport does not interest me, i am not a
vegitarian but i do love animals and will not pay any amount
of money to see them destroyed in such a manner. =(

Cultural tolerance is needed in this world.

I got into a big fight with my spanish teacher about this.

yuppers.....give da bulls some spears and stuff. =)

seriously tho....i don't believe it has anything to do with
cultural tolerance. i'm HALF spanish.....thats my
culture....i'm just expressing MY beliefs about that
particular 'sport' (doesn't think it should be termed a
sport, but oh well)

bullfighting is not a sport it is art!
dont worry i wont discuss this as i dont really feel
atracted by it... i just wanted to make clear that it is not
considered as a sport.
about killing the animal.... i know it is too cruel for
you... well i assure you that cows and pigs are killed in a
much crueler way (not only in spain)
but lecoeur:
dont get me wrong i understand you dont like the animal
being treated that way...

heheh....it's ok to have different opinions about
things....makes the world go round and makes for interesting
conversations!

=0)

it doesn't affect my love of SPAIN!!
