This whole thing is a fucking mess to start with. People with big egos, all clashing, with all different mentalities of the whole "sharing community".

"So hmm is there a version better than 128kbps?"
Dunno, ;)
$20 paypal says it won't show up here within the next 2 weeks.

You're asking for $20 to provide the better quality recording?

I didn't share it ! I only wanted to taunt people, I only wanted to give the illusion that I might be that much better connected than the average fanboy, I just wanted to rub their fucking noses in it for a bit, by playing a snippet of the recording on the radio, was that so wrong? Was I so taken by my own distorted view of reality that we're now, all of us, suffering? YES, YES BLOODY yes.

why does liking autechre live shows = fanboy attitude?
I truly hope someday we'll get a legal release of that tour, it would be worth a standalone CD, more than any other tour they've done.

I agree with you 100%, it's a shame, I mean, put stuff like this out on Bleep, the fans like it, lots of people would like to hear Ae live that can't go to the gigs, the music is different enough to warrant a release, no one's being ripped off like some rock act's "live" CD. I don't know the story behind this particular file, all I can imagine is that it maybe shouldn't be "out there" and that's why it's been guarded, not to keep it secret just to be l33t, but because someone's job/position/whatever could be affected.

rob and sean have made it clear loads of times that they are bang into sharing and copying and grew up sharing tapes. i doubt they'd have any problem with people who like their music copying bootlegs. some people need to stop being so arsey.

that bleep.com thing is a great idea. Can't go to a show? 10$ will give you a soundboard recording! Its all about exposure, imho the bigger/wider an artist' repertory is, the wider access to the general public he'll become. I'm not just talking about the # of quality releases, but also artists that do touch other mediums.
I remember proposing some thing like that for Bob Dylan. We have to understand that Dylan's on a tour called the "Never-ending Tour", which has started in 1988 and has almost 2000 shows now. In the community we would all would pay a very high price to have access to quality recordings of it. Perhaps not all, that's impossible, but there are stuff we already know would be incredible to hear in good quality (Supper Club, Cardiff 2000, etc...)
I mean artists like Pearl Jam or the G Dead, they are up there trying to bring the fan a way to make them hear live recordings.
IDM artists that give us good live shows are rare, most of the time its just DJ'ing or mixing up your own stuff with very little difference to the real music. But then you have artists like Squarepusher or Autechre who give us something "different". Square has given us a live release that was average only because it was fairly similar to the original songs (and the sound quality was crap). But then again you have stuff like the Solid Steel CD live release that are worth it.
We're in 2005, the industry is searching ways to bring a relation between the customer and the artists other than the 15$ people are tired of paying for a silver round CD.

Pffft, I've heard the flacs and they're good but let's face it, Autechre is no Sally Starr.

If you don't know the story behind this original file but if you're not sharing it because maybe someone's job will be on the line, you are truly a great person. I say kudos to you ;)
I'm enjoying the 128kbs very much, had my suspicions about the length (wow exactly 68 minutes!) but it is very fine nonetheless and I am looking forward very much to a proper release. Flac it on bleep and I'm all over it!
