Dear Autechre, I like your musical evolution, but is there
some possibility to have another great release as good as
AMBER?

My dream? Well, you stop for some time to make music as
Gantz Grad, Draft7.30 or Untilted, you back to your analogue
technology, relax yourself and your mind and start to make
an album with same special feeling who just AMBER give to
me.
Montreal, Silverside, Piezo, Teartear or 444 from Incunabula
are some of bests things I never listened from 90's.

C'mon Sean, C'mon Rob... it's time to back in your mental
archive.

\/\/.

and i found it so boring...
but then i got really into ae,
and i fucking love them,
but never relistened to amber.
but someday ill rediscover this album
and ill love it and ill say
"oh, how blind was i!!"
and everything will be perfect!

"I like your musical evolution, but is there

AMBER?
" - outrageous!

I bet they'd say, "But Woofter old chap, Amber's already out
there, as is Incunabula. You can still listen to them today.
But that was then, and this is now. Back then, yes, it was
all atmospheric electornica and sonic goodness, but now,
amico, it's all about the beats, being random, complexity.
We're getting older, we all have to move on. Sorry, we'll
never do another Amber, but we're glad you enjoy it so
much."

hmm, personally i find amber rather boring too..haven't
listened to it in a while though..all i wish was a bit less
focus on srum patterns, um, a bit weaker beats..oh uh!

Making another Amber would actually take effort. Running hip
hop beats through grandulator plug ins and farting down a
microphone vaguely in time takes less effort.

I actually prefer their stuff, it excites me and makes me a
happy boy.

Incunabula and Amber are the mother lodes from which all
subsequent Ae work is chipped off of.

The end of Sublimit harks back to the synth of "Kalpol
Intro" from Incunabula, I thought that was a nice touch.

I was joking of course. I do like their new stuff, but I
personally am getting a bit bored of the whole
ultra-complex-random-fucked up-sounding aspects to the
music. It's just like, "well done." Reminds me of when prog
rock music has an insanely long solo. But that's probably
just me.

ive got that compilation...both autechre tracks seem
interesting in a 'look what ae used to be like' kind of way.
but by todays standards they suck - very empty sounding,
barely idm at all.

Were I a musician, I'd consider "barely idm at all" a
compliment.

"Hey listen to my new track"

"That's ACE! You can hardly hear any IDM in it at all"

"Empty", how is it fucking empty? It's full of joi de vivre,
it's playful, it's fucking excellent.

There was an interesting interview with Brian Eno somewhere,
and he said throughout his career people have always said
"Why don't you go back to doing..." whatever, but if he'd
taken other people's advice he'd never have done any of the
things he had done, and that you can never "go back",
whether you want to or not, the circumstances just aren't
the same. I know that's obvious, but...

I know what Woofter means though. It'd be nice to hear
unreleased tracks from the early period, or alternative
versions, that'd be a nice compromise.

I'm finding that I get so many reactions to tracks that
there's no point in trying to design anything with other
peoples' opinions in mind; the same tracks can invoke
completely oposing ideas. So you should just try and please
yourself and hope that others might happen to like the sound
you've created.

What Autechre is doing makes sense.

They dont have to 'go back' as such either. They could just
release stuff from that era; they must have tons of old
trax. De-orbit by Speedy J is awesome too. I love the old
