I don't know about your location, but around here in my quaint little town of white rock not far from the city of vancouver kids as young as grade 5 are getting seriously into meth. Almost everyone I know now is doing this damaging drug! It's getting pretty fucking bad now. I'm starting to see old friends becoming very messed up. I was in the scene for about a week and it opened up my eyes to see how many people are actually doing it. I backed away from it pretty fast. Not my thing.. |

i would say i'm well informed about drugs, but i've never really known about crystal meth, so i had to look it up: crystal meth (crystal methamphetamine, tina, crystal meths, krank, tweak, ice) Crystal meth is an intensive stimulant with disinhibitory qualities Once very big amongst some of the US gay community but now spreading fast into mainstream culture, meth was originally used by bikers and truckers to stay awake on long journeys. Crystal is made of highly volatile, toxic substances (based on such chemical "precursors" as methylamine and amyl amine) that are melded in differing combinations, forming what some have described as a "mix of laundry detergent and lighter fluid." The mixes are never exactly the same, but basic types are a rough yellow substance called Hydro and a smooth white blend called Glass. Half a gram costs around £25 and a £15 hit would probably keep you going for a few days. The drug can either be snorted or injected, or in its crystal form 'ice' smoked in a pipe, and brings on a feeling of exhilaration and a sharpening of focus. Smoking ice results in an instantaneous dose of almost pure drug to the brain, giving a huge rush followed by a feeling of euphoria for anything from 2-16 hours. For some this could result in obsessive cleaning or tidying, but for many the biggest bonus is the sense of sexual liberation which can result in mad, abandoned sex for hours - sometimes days - on end. It's ability to keep users awake and feeling good for long periods have resulted in the drug making heavy inroads into the US gay dance scene, although its use is still rare in the UK. |

Side effects: The biggest risk is from the increased chance of HIV infection through unprotected and uninhibited sex while under the influence of meth. The liberating nature of the drug means that often safe sex is discarded while sexual activity increases greatly. It has been reported in the States that in almost half of the new AIDS cases, crystal meth has been a factor. Smoking ice results in body temperature rises and rapid cardiac and respiratory rates developing as the blood pressure increases. The drug can lead to hallucinations, paranoia, and bizarre, aggressive and psychotic behaviour. Health risks: The effects and dependence potential of meth are similar to that of amphetamine misuse, although as the stuff is a lot stronger, the dangers involved are greater with an increased chance of overdose. Overuse can bring on paranoia, short term memory loss, wild rages and mood swings as well as damage to your immune system. As far as we know, it is not physically addictive, although many have quickly developed a very strong psychological and damaging dependence for the drug. Overdosing can lead to severe convulsions followed by circulatory and respiratory collapse, coma and death. Some people have died after taking small doses. Note: In the UK it seems to be difficult to find consistent reports of peoples experiences on the drug, with most claiming that it is the same as 'Base speed'. |

Most of my friends use meth, many are IV drug users...... I've used it on or off for 5 years, but havn't touched it for 12 months. I find it fairly subtle in it's effect, and therefore very easy to get used to having. Easy to get habituated. Many of my friends suffer from mental illness, as have I in the past. I can see a clear link between usage and illness..... the biggest users are the most sick. It's very hard to see the effects while you are using........ i don't like the drug. |

I have often thought I have adhd. When I do cocaine I get very calm. I sit and listen to people. I could almost fall asleep. I have a different reaction to E aswell. I tend to wander off and sit alone and meditate. |

Meth is extremely common in New Mexico and most of America as far as I can tell. Its quite easy to make but very dangerous. A meth lab is extremely volatile. Really a shit drug, very addictive and cheaper than coke/cocaine - its quite popular amongst white trash and lower income families. |

What's adderall?.. I thought you guys would be educated enough not to do such drugs? Surely, in the end all drugs just end up to becoming far too damaging... that's why they're illegal right? |

friend recently got into meth and adderall, didn't see him for 2 months. he was rather gaunt and scraggly. he's always online now at odd hours of the morning and failing school. heh. |

i took adderall for like a month and lost 30 pounds.... that was a couple years ago, i don't really like the way it makes me feel now, tho. i take clonopin every day and drink every weekend... that's about it for me. and i smoke too many cigarettes. |

I've read lots of people in small town america are into it, many use it to stay awake so they can work 2 jobs/loads of overtime. Is that true? If so, you could imagine the government being not massively fussed about stamping the problem out. |
