they're illegal over here too. Legal to buy one, just
illegal to use it.

is the sound quality good, or does it have interferance like
crackling?

I was curious about the range of these things.

Can I set it to any frequency and play my own music when I
go into stores?

i bought a dlo transpod for abouts $60 off amazon. worked
good on a 10 hour trip south ony had to change stations
twice. it can access the whole range from 88.1 - 107 plus
it charges the ipod at the same time.

probably not. the signal is not strong enough to override a
frequency with a strong singnal already coming through. you
need a channel with (mostly) static. range is said to be 10
feet, but i find it's more like 2 feet. sound quality is
good, but you do get interference. it's pretty much
unavoidable if you're moving.

I have an iTrip too, and even with the best setting on the
tuner, I still get a high pitched ventolin-noise over the
transmitted signal. Is it the same with yours?

huh. no. i wonder why you're getting that interference. do
you have the volume up too high? though i doubt that would
be it, that would probably just distort it. i usually have
my iPod volume at about 50% and it sounds good. then again,
which generation do you have? i have first gen, so it's
pretty old, but i haven't had that sort of problem.

We have the same generation, and I have the volume set at
max 50%, so it's nothing wrong there. It disappears in
mono, though. Perhaps it's due to some bad contact inside.
It doesn't bother me actually, I was just wondering if it
was a general issue.
