haven't they changed our minds, our musical consciousness?
for me - they have.
i mean i love all this lately dsp-fuckery really. gantz graf
is one of my favourite songs ever looking at all genres of
music.
but can i actually say that i like it? i mean what do i like
on it? the melody? what fucking melody? there is no
melody.... maybe the rythmic beats then? - come on, don't be
silly.

i mean i can't even play an autechre song on a keyboard,
cannot even whistle it.

i have so many great melodies in my mind, which i can recall
wherever i am.

now there are only bits and peaces left - a song lasts 8
minutes now but changes 20 times. you an say - yeah i like
that beat between the 4.50-4.55 minute. it's really great!

yep - they have changed my live

There has been music years before they came along that
ignored melody and rhythm, I guess you haven't heard it.

I only like gantz graf with the vid.

I get where you're comming from, though. Sometimes I stand
back and go; why the fuck do I enjoy this? But then I do
enjoy it, and who cares why?

I can give more definate reasons why I love more musical
bands in the traditional sense.

..and I have yet to hear an autechre song with an "unusual"
timesignature...

That's true, actually. Reviewers and people here go on about
their crazy time signatures, but I hear them mostly do stuff
in 4/4 (the complexity of the beats make it sound like
different time sigs, but they're often simply in 4/4) It's
the same with most electronic artists. Apart from Venetian
Snares....(I speak in ignorance here, I'm sure there's loads
of people in the scene who love crazy time signatures, but I
haven't heard them.)

they're just trying to piss about with crazy rythms, sounds
and structures, with no formal knowledge of music at all.
That's why it sounds fresh, and sometimes also crap. But
when it's good, it's fucking damn good.

imho.

I've had bell sound bit (3:21) from 'ipacial section' in my
head recently too, and I'm usually beatboxing hte percussion
over the top whilst it plays in my head

How do you the patch progamming is good in grantz graf? To
me, it just sounds like lots of live plugin fuckery. It
might not be, I mean I thought a lot of Draft was like that
but they said it was "really worked on".

well.. the people who really like autechre make lots
of annoying threads about "the philosophy of autechre" and
"how do you dance to autechre" and "oooh! looky! this is an
odd timesig (even though it's 4/4)" even though there
have been 600 threads on exactly the same subject before.

I prefer Chihiros threads to these neverending fanboi
threads.

sadist: just don't make any more (unjustified) autechre
threads.
