idm was invented by a pretentious dipshit uncapable of
coming up with a decent genre name (if such a thing exists).

Anyways, i know this is a joke thread to get a rise out of
people that happen to take their music a tad more seriously
than is healthy but

IDM as a term was invented by a journalist
No one apart from a threatened teenager would suggest RDJ
invented any "scene"
Derrick May gives us Electro and Detroit, which, ok, are at
the roots of Electronica
And ummm, Elusive made me laugh today too with some comment
about CIA hankies.

if this was to decide who got to live, you'd all be dead.
IDM was invented by some nerd who decided to molest a beat
with clicky sounds and funky noises as it was going

offline Taxidermist from Black Grass on 2005-04-19 00:02 [#01569909]

Musical styles never really get invented. They evolve. And
no matter how much one person may seem to have contributed,
there never is one or two innovators that 'create' a genre.
Its always a slow and natural progression, with moments and
bursts of enlightenment.

i agree with taxidermist. but its interesting nevertheless.
richard h kirk may have a lot to do with it. he was the
driving force behind cabaret voltaire who made an impact in
chicago (as the poster of micro-phonies on ferris beuller's
door suggests - this was set in chicago 1984) then the first
house track is made in 84/85? coincidence? maybe but he had
a massive influence. then he's the first man to release an
album on warp a few years later? pretty mad.
