I'll try this too...

What is this?
Well.. I had this idea.. get several music-makers
together and make a track. Each will make their part (one to
bass, one to melody, and so-on) without listening to the
others' part. A BPM and maybe a theme or scale is decided
beforehand, and when everyone is finished, it is mixed by
one of the participants or preferrably a person that only
does mix.

The general idea for the tracks is that they're supposed to
be as spontaneous as possible, which means it would be
preferrable for them to be done within an hour or two
(including the process of getting artists), so don't sign up
unless you have the time.

Exquisite Corpse.

This time I thought I'd do it with people who normally don't
make music (even though I'll change that if no-one signs up
at all). The guy doing the mix will still have to be a
musician, though, I think, since he's more likely to have
the programs required. All the other participants can just
use whatever recording/sound manip. program they want and do
whatever they want (if you want to record, but have no mic,
a headphone-set in the mic-input will act like a muffled
kind of mic). No bpm or key will be set as it won't matter
to people not making music anyway.

No links to parts in the thread. Everything will have to
be emailed to the person doing the mix.

so.. anyone up for it? This could be an interesting one...
it could also suck hard enough to remove the little black
dot.

come on people support his cause! you may have the chance
to perform live in the future, without knowing what the
other "musicians" are doing!

this is a great idea, but i think it will be difficult to
find people willing to try to write music and share when
they don't usually do it.

forck: hahha! that live thing would be amazing!

r40f: yeah, I know, so if no-one has signed up in.. the time
it takes me to shower/go to the shop/make dinner, I'll
change it into a regular one.

it's not hard.

plug your headset into the mic-in, open that small windows
recording thingamadong, make some noises either with your
voice/mouth or with something you find lying around.. oh,
look! a keyboard! record it!

if I understand correctly that the mixer is supposed to be
make some kind of coherent structure out of all the bits,
I'd be up for being the mixer.

yes, you understand correctly and great!

melack: hehe.. recording through headphones is not something
that seems very logical at first, but.. no, it doesn't seem
logical at all.. anyway, it works. Do you make music
normally, or do you want to participate?

Bump

If no-one signs up, maybe non-musicians can pretend
to be a person who normally don't make music? It could be
interesting.

hahah! yeah!

if we do it with musicians, but no bpm or key... that could
get really messy, and the mixer would have a heck of a job,
though...

I'll let this float for.. the rest of this pizza, and then
it's free for all!

as well?

because you can't mix if all you've got is that windows
recording thingie, and with people who don't do music one
couldn't expect them to have any programs for mixing...
anyway, anyone can participate now.

no, we'll have to set one now, I guess...

it'll be an easy one.

c major (C D E F G A H C)

120 BPM.

so I'll write you down for melody, then..?

I'd better not be the mixer then, as I have no real musical
knowledge.

more importantly - I really only wanted to do it when it was
to be like you proposed, everything made by "non-artists".

idea:
(sorry i dont even know whats going on )

why not take all the components of the track (like all the
pieces from different people), and make them either publicly
available, or available to everyone who asks.
then let whoever wants to mix it up mix it up.
then either you put them all up or only put the 'winners' up
or whatever you want to do .
basically if someone thinks they want to try and mix it, let
them try, if it sucks it sucks.
