from all the interview out there recently..about their new
setup, their live rig. their "back on form" album, i suspect
it'll be a killer live event... you cucky lunts.

(Remember they're known for playing non-album stuff live.)

offline jamesa from United Kingdom on 2005-04-14 09:17 [#01564885]
Points: 1080 Status: Lurker

yes to all that, but why can't they write a tune i can
whistle, like the old stuff?

lol...I didn't mean "and shit" as in, it would be shit. I
think it's going to be a good night out, I hear they play
pretty slamming stuff live.

so how was the show?

offline CS2x from London (United Kingdom) on 2005-04-14 20:08 [#01565740]

Shit, that was AMAZING.

The 3 or so hours before Autechre came on got more and more
unbearable. At first I enjoyed the minimal house/techno
stuff, but eventually it became increadably monotonous and
went on for ridiculously long.

But Autechre....Thoe beats were so phat and complex, and
there were some lush basslines and crazy noise
impovisations. Brilliant show.

what time were they supposed to come on and what time did
they actually come on?

i've been playing it for my wife to get her ready to see
them live (she's never really heard them)... i'm starting
with amber and working my way through to the newer stuff.

offline Sire from the depths (Finland) on 2005-04-14 20:49 [#01565780]

Wicked! No lights on at all (only the ineviytable "Exit"
signs and "On" lights in the equipment), and the vibe was
incredible. Musically, I'd say that it was very ...
accessible compared to what I was expecting based on
previous gigs I've witnessed.

Not in a state to comment the gig properly now (after ... 5
beers, a double g&t, blunt and 3 spilffs or so) but as an
overall view they totally rocked the spot when people were
expecting a more cranium based experience. Very very good,
the word Gescom came to mind many times during thge gig for
some reason

offline zguru from Lindale (Texas) (United States) on 2005-04-14 20:53 [#01565787]

did they interact with the audience at all?

offline weltact from Taiwan on 2005-04-14 21:05 [#01565799]
Points: 1258 Status: Regular

they didnt say a single word
noone even saw them
they were just 2 small silhouettes somewhere behind the
sound, in the dark

musically, u dont get more alien than this
amazing gig
amazing.

did they play recognizable material, unreleased stuff or a
combination of both?

(i will be wearing a masonic logo t-shirt at the
Sanfranciso gig if anyone wants to kick my ass)

It was unreleased material, but sometimes elements from
their released stuff were brought in. I definately heard
some elements that sounded like they came off Untilted (but
of course with new layers and insane beats and stuff.)

I would go through that all over again easily. I reckon they
should release that shit as a new album, it would be one of
my favorites!

ps-I would NOT do it again if they had the same support,
though. No offense to the last DJ, I know he had is own
minimal style going on and whatnot, but it really was too
fucking long.

i like long annoying buildups to the main event.
Anticipation is one of the best drugs! Squarepusher did it
masterfully at his go plastic Dublin gig - everyone was
soooo pissed off but i fucking loved it ... i think its got
its own charm when a master is about to take the stage. Fuck
100% satisfaction... give me somethinmg to gnash my teeth
at.

Ae better come to Glade (for example)!!!!
