is anyone else having difficulties with the torrent? (time hovers at an hour and then increases) if its available as an mp3 and someone is willing to trade, that would be rad. |

well given the quality of the recording, it doesn't really make much of a difference. I still kept it at the highest mp3 conversion rate possible and its more accessible to people who otherwise wouldnt be bother by FLAC. |

I neared my maximum d/l capability @ 230 kb/s and got the whole 381.84 mb Flac in half an hour. That is one fast motherfucking torrent. |

in my experience of tape trading all the decent recorded stuff with a DAT tape and nice mic's come from the States (mostly), whereas the Minidisk crap sounding stuff is rife in Europe. |

well with recording it doesn't matter because the source is Minidisk. (yes, Flac is better the mp3 because it is the original WAV recording before being compressed and re-encoded to 1/4th it's original size) |

But then again, Atrac, is a lossier format than wav, so I would think a 320 mp3 would do plenty. A question for those in the know: How would one go about to minimize the distorted bass found on many in-crowd recordings? Would it suffice to have a lower sound-in level? I was just wondering, since it's fucking anoying when it happens. |

basically, with Minidisk it becomes unavoidable because they are not really designed for high frequency recording, like at a live gigs, hence the distortion. What you need are: decent mics like Custom Oade mics:http://www.oade.com/microphones/index.html http://www.oade.com/digital_recorders/Portable_DAT_Machines DAT recorder onto D8 tape: /tcdd8.html unfortunately, alot of this stuff isn't that cheap |

Thanks, it must have been a wonderful live experience. Even though it´s too bad there is a lot of distortion in the flac-file I must say I prefer "fuzzy" bass tones (the distortion) compared to sharp digital clipping in higher frequencies... (I got some of that on a recording of a dub techno set I recorded a few years ago) Please Autechre - we really need a live box set - it´s about time and you seem to refuse to play in sweden...? |

It was very good, I'm kicking myself for not getting tickets for all the UK dates and following them, it was that good. I doubt that they refuse to play in Sweden though, I was trying to book them to play in Finland for their Confield tour and they were well up for it - we couldn't do it because of the timing of their tour and the lack of funds available for that time.. But maybe some time in the future |
