Untilted in lossless FLAC on bleep.com

According to warprecords.com:

"The mighty Autechre release their new album 'Untilted' on
18th April. The album is available to pre-order in Warpmart
now, and for the first time ever will be dowloadable from
Bleep in FLAC lossless audio."

Hope this means bleep will continue to offer downloads in
FLAC. I'll finally start using it.

FLAC + high-res album art = me never buying a physical copy
of an album again.

"Woohoo", fleetmouse exclaimed, adding little to the
discussion but his childlike wonder and excitement.

A codec similar to MP3, but "lossless" in that it
completely preserves a file's audio fidelity (at the price
of a larger file size than "lossy"). FLAC is free and its
source code is open, so users and developers are able to
view code and extend its functions.

:-)

Are CDs worthless? FLAC is pristine CD quality audio. You
can easily encode it to lossy formats like AAC or MP3 or
whatever.

it's probably possible to install linux on the ipod to make
it play flacs.. don't you worry.. those open-source people
do weird stuff like that all the time.

the thing I don't get yet is.. playing flacs through any
ordinary pc-soundcard won't make it lossless no matter what
you do... putting a cd in a stereo will still be much better
and vinyl will be even better! are the flacs so that one can
burn "perfect" cds, then?

victrola.

"perfect" CDs - theoretically they will ahve the same
information as a factory manufactured CD. But if you have a
shitty burner and cheap blanks you might get teh dreaded
clock jitter.

Oh for fucks sake people.
If lossless has no value for you don't use it. Just stop
twining about it.
I, for one, dislike mp3 as a permanent archive medium so
lossless is the only way to go.
