My review.
01 lcc (ae does not develop mx) 02 Ipacial section (ae mira calix puke dropout) 03 Pro Radii (calix dropout developing to ae in the end) 04 Augmatic disport (ae using floops + dfx buffer override or similar, around 5:43 is the bomb)
05 Iera (ma fave so far. But no development. Draft era. Crap ending)
06 Fermium (old skool boring track) 07 The trees (old skool not as boring track, too short ae ambient ending)
08 Sublimit (well, maybe I'll like it some time... A three tracker like surripere, but you could love surripere from the first listen...)
All in all: ae on windows? ae mira calix restoration (bad, calix=shite) I give it thousand chances. Just because its ae. If it was another band I would just listen to iera these days.

funny thing is, amidst all of this 'crap' I absolutely agree with you.
Ugggghhhhh.
Recently, I had mentioned Untilted lacks the ingenuity that marked everything after LP5 within the trajectory of their releases to date. If 3 months ago Warp said Autechre were releasing an outtakes album of material from 1997 - 2003 and this was the result, it would have been WAY more convincing. Everyone would have believed it (memes work that way) and no one would have complained. Even the album title would have lent itself to this 'concept.' They should have just done that anyways, damn it. No one would have known the difference. Then they could have gone back to writing an album for next year that would have pwnd way more then this one.

gl0tch. To me it seems like they have no more good ideas. Seems like the dying of big stars. The same what rdj suffered from after his last decent come to daddy and then windowlicker. Or look at LFO: After some great tracks and remixes and after frequencies they were, to me, dead.
BTW, disgusting crappy people: have a look at the latest sutemos.net release.

My unwanted Untilted review:
LCC - At about 5 mins in there comes into focus a classic Ae synth echoing Amber days, I'd like a whole track of this section as I feel I have to sit through the first four minutes awaiting this bit, and I'm not sure the first half compliments the second. But you have to doff your cap in awe at how they wound such an intricate musical rug over such a short space of time without it sounding forced and choppy. A brooding but not overtly dark opener that says "We're Autechre, we are quite clever, it's going to be tricky 70 odd minutes but bear with us and, you know, you might enjoy yourselves".
Ipacial Section - The sound of a laptop beating to death a billion bedroom breakcore tweenagers. It's robotic, but funkier than anything off of Draft or Confield. I can listen to this without wishing I wasn't, which is a bonus. Whether the beat "devlops" to some awesome logorithm is beyond my capacity to detect. I like the sound of Rob banging his ktchen pans. This track says "You like those fast bits? So do we, but possibly not in the same order as you do." The tightly looped sounds that appear about 5:20 begins one of my favourite bits of the album. The ending is loose in a an elastic manner which pleases my ear.
Pro Radii - A refinement of Confield's excesses, it darts about conjuring all sorts of shifting images, and when it gets funky on yo' ass, is pretty "shiiiiiiiit!!!" inducing. In another universe this is the soundtrack to a very good Sci-Fi film and Jude Law isn't anywhere near it. Though on reflection, I think Anvil Vapre covered this area a bit more concisely. That might not be relevant at all.

Augmatic Disport - How do I love thee Ae? let me count the ways (in base 8), the opening is brutal but never hamfisted and annoying. It says "Stop talking at the back and pay attention whilst we perform our android version of "Sex Machine"". 3:40 on burys possibly a great lost pop song deep under relentless laser bolts, being spat from a beheomoth attack ship moored over the gaseous moon of Globoud----- whilst at 5 mins we find a cyborg gently weaping at such wanton genocide. Until the hatch is broken down by warrior ants that eat into the mainframe and everything goes fucky. But the genius comes in, for me, about 7:20 when it mutates from a darkly 80s instrumental into a very subtle bit of dub reggae. It was all a doobie induced dream, after all.
Lera: A bit of a darker turn, though suspiciously "skitterish beats over buried atmospheric sounds" formula being employed perhaps once too often. The geeing-up about 3:40 doesn't do too much for me either, it's a bit "oh is it going to sex up? .... no, no it can't be bothered". Still, skillfully done.
Fermium: Classic Ae. Almost pop chart material, if the world went sane for five minutes. I wish they'd do a trance remix of this. I might do it and make "mad dough". Just imagine a hiiiiiiiiiiiggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrr diva going over the top "Reach higher, reach rrrr"
The Trees: Easily my favorite title on the album. By now R & S know we, the humble listener, are beaten to a pleasant pulp and lack the will power to skip forward, so they can do what the hell they like. Here they update some old techno track that they keep in the background and make it fucky on top. This does sound a bit more Draft-y to me than the other tracks. I like it from about 3:20 on when some "space" appears in the background. This track says "You haven't a clue, have you, what we're up to?" and the listener can only mutely gurn in reply.

Sublimit: We're at the end of another Ae album, but woooah, no slipping out early! The best is saved until last. The by now familiar machine rhythms fire up, a keyboard plays itself, then woaah! the dancefloor is jammed with ghosts of electro past. This track says "We may be bods, but we still like to get freaky". Then we're off on a voyage that seems to take us back, back through Ae history, even unto Incunabula. Is that a sample or synth line from Kalpol Introl in there? The battered and lifeless listener is now able to summon the strength to get up and put the kettle on.

im not even gonna attempt to review it after reading dog's, but to add one comment, the ending to sublimit is just ... right on.
it's like the track is winding and becoming more narrow at the same time
the way they slowly cut the volume on it..
it rides off into the sunset.....................

I hadn't listened to "untilted" in about 10 days and you made me listen again!
my favourites:
"augmatic disport" - I love those little percussive bursts towards the end, when the dub-part kicks in. the ending is perfect. it's such a great moment of semi-rest. :)
"fermium" - I agree completely - it is classic Autechre. probably why Warp put it on the frontpage.
"the trees" - works really well together with "fermium", like one flowing thing.

I know everyone's tired of everyone else's opinion on Untilted, and the undignified rush to decry it / laud it up when it first appeared may have tainted it for some, but I have to say, for my money, I think this is one great electronic album.
Arguing whether anyone would like it if it was fake or not is impossible. This is an Autechre album. How can you argue whether or not you would like it if you thought it was by Flourescent Gay or Pete Tong? You can't say "What if someone else did it?" because they haven't. It's irrelevant.

The fact that people don't give a shit about the billions of cloned glitchy IDM, Richard Devine 4th-hand copyists is because most of the time it is shit and derivative, not because it isn't by a big name like Autechre. Fucking get over it.
