My eternal batteries.

In the summer of 1997 I was living in the dorms at
college.

My parents bought me one of those little tabletop stereos
because space was limited. It is a Panasonic. It's been
through a really really tough life, what with several wild
roomates, many different houses, and a lot of heavilly
drunken abuse.

Anyhow, the batteries in the remote still work! They're the
Panasonic batteries that came in the shrinkwrap along with
the remote, and they still work.

I almost cannot believe it, and I thought I would share it
with my xlt friends.

FIN

P.S. They are standard double A batteries.

The batteries I got in the remote control for my first VCR
(in early 1991) still work fine. I haven't used it much
since mid 2004 but up till then... all the time.

Does anyone else out there have any exciting battery-related
stories? Why not write in and tell us?

when i was around 5 or 6 the batteries in my brother's casio
keyboard had a leak and the fluid looked like caramel or
chocolate syrup. I licked them, and lemme tell you it gives
you a very strange and painful sensation, possibly because
it was acid..

i am time after time in awe of the sheer power contained in
a single DURACEL PLUS battery. I find these to be MUCH
better than the 'ULTRA' variety which is much more
expensive. With a set of these PLUS babies, i won't even
remember how long i've had them in my beloved Philips
discman. Highly recommended!

Also, my rechargeable 2300mAh Duracel batteries are
fantastic, but i only use those for my awesome powershot s1
digital camera.

One last word of advice:

despite the fact that batteries will often remain operative
after long periods of neglection (in most cases found in a
lost remote or outdated walkman you no longer use), it is
ALWAYS better to take batteries out of their
host-application, to prevent leaking battery acid and such.
A battery that has both poles connected, will ALWAYS lose
SOME power. The same goes for any charging devices that are
plugged in, whilst NOT charging any battery/batteries.

When I was a young boy I had a remote-controlled car and
everytime the batteries would get weak I put them on the
oven for about 10mins and squeeze 3-4 more drive-time out of
them.

The batteries on the remote for my cd-player lasted 10
years. In the end I got so sick of waiting for them to die
that I retired them before their time.

No. if you really think about it and i mean hard. This is a
break through finding. Certain batteries on certain products
get switched. My TV remote has had the same batteries for i
would guess over 5 years.

I love how i dont have to think twice about it

-i will now tell this story in reverse, because i'm
bored.-

True story.

So, I took the frog out of my windshield wiper, trying to be
as careful as possible because he had already been through
quite a lot. It was cold and rainy.

Driving to the store, Nick noticed that the frog was still
alive, and moving.

When I pulled up to his house, I got out and looked and it
wasn't a clump of feathers at all, it was a fucking frog!
It must've been carrying it when I hit it. And, somehow it
got lodged in my windshield wiper.

The next day, I was driving back over to his place, and I
didn't see any sign of it on the side of the road, which I'm
hoping means he eventually regained his senses and flew off.
But, I did notice a clump of wet feathers in my wiper.

I couldn't believe it, it was an owl, and it was standing
beside the road, obviously dazed, but still alive.

Driving home after leaving Nick's I took the same road and
drove slowly, looking in the light created by my headlights
for any sign of him.

Pretty much my whole night was ruined because I felt so bad
for hitting something, especially something as cool as an
owl or a hawk.

Ok, so I'm driving over to a friends house on friday night,
in the freezing rain, going fairly slow because the
conditions were shitty. When, something flies right in
front of me, and I hit it with my windshield, or something,
I couldn't really tell because I jumped and it was dark, but
from the color it looked like either a hawk, or an owl.

I've found that using rechargable batteries that you put
into a charger, which accepts triple or double a, is the
cheapest way (especially since I qualify for poverty
electricity rates). You only need 2 sets of batteries,
alternating which ones are plugged in when current ones wear
out so you always have new ones.

I think I read that stacking batteries on top of eachother
rather than side by side increases their power and I always
wanted to stack like 500 batteries up and see what
interesting things I could do, even though I'd be too
retarded to make anything interesting happen. Maybe with 500
batteries your own body would provide enough conductivity if
you touched both ends but you'd need really long arms.

i bought a pack of 64 batterys for £1. i thought i was
getting such a bargian, and laughed at the suckers paying
£5 for four batterys. then i got home and tried them out,
it turns out the life of each battery is 30 seconds.
