Phoba: Suggestion...

Would it possible to have a news page type thing where
trusted users can post news, tidbits & relevant links
etc...

Would be good to make things more interactive...& would keep
new content coming in all the time...I know the MB kinda
achives this but a seperate section on the main page would
be neater I reckon & make the Mb a lot more stable...

I know this is pretty easy in ASP but you use PHP
yeah?...but I do coding for a living so any help I could
offer, I'm here......

Just a few thoughts...love the site so far, it's been good
watching it develop over the years....

Actually I have one bit of advice too. Altho its not a big
thing, making it so the login and password were not case
sensitive would be good. I accidentally have two accounts
now because of a mistake in capslock with my prior password
and handle (even tho I don't really want or need the second
one).

I would prefer to have aphex related news and rumours
reported to me or to some other crew members
(crew@aphextwin.nu). The crew will have full access to our
current news-system soon, which would increase the news
flood a bit.

Yeah, having people submit it on their own would be taxing,
and ofcourse would overflow the place with bad news,
disinformation and such.

well, not if it was only trusted members who'd been here for
a while & have a good reputation...and if shit gets posted
them surely it would be easy to take away the right to post
for that user...

with respect, this "crew" lark stinks just a wee bit of
elitism and all the best boards I've ever used were
massively successful because of the openess & ability for
users to add content themselves (even if it's just the off
tidbit of news etc...)...

But yeah, whatever...;)

Just thought it might make the board a little more dynamic
and perhaps, take some pressure off yourself & whoever for
regular updates....

Thats true, but it cant be so open with all these people
coming through I dont think. I frequent another messageboard
that is very much so run by the community it envolves, but
there are also moderatos/admin's. But its not nearly as
large as this community so it works.

Its like comparing the crime density from certain cities if
you mind... My city Edmonton has more crime per capita than
New York City {which is a lot}. But more people get murdered
and such there in NY. Its just the ... well *quality* we
could say, for example the "news" or "info" we would get....
so much crap... you half to weed through the stuff, it may
work better if somehow it was... well some sort of formed
heirchy... but what the hell.. ive been drinking and smoking
all night.
