i'm really into the album right now at this moment. it's
good, but the drumstuff is often very load in the picture,
and the start on some of the tracks still suck pretty much.
but all the tracks are good at some stage.

the cover. not as good as draft 7.30 at all, but it kinda
reflects the "new style"..

dear elusive and goodhands team,

this is a messageboard for music discussion. the posts in
this thread are supposed to be a discussion about the
artwork and review of the upcoming album "Untilted". that's
what has been happening in this thread. we are discussing
what is supposed to be discussed. if you don't like it
fuggin leave etc.

seriously, i am perplexed - wtf don't you understand about
people having opinions that are different than your own?
get over yourselves. your dismissive little tantrums are
the real annoyance in this thread.

The thing I love about ae is their ability to generate
controversy. Isn't all interesting art controversial and
stimulating? I don't care if I'm engaged so long as I'm
moved. Even to anger or derision. Having not heard any leaks
yet, I'm encouraged. Fuck shit up.

because it's all been shit comments

discussion is not described as

"Shame about the revolting artwork. I mean really, it is
shit
imho. "

"That artwork is really really really shit. I hate it."

"even the chocolate wheelchair cover artwork was better"

"then the artwork truly sucks"

"if not... Save that design for the tour t-shirts
and the limited edition autechre snowboards that will
follow."

"uh, i dissagree as that was some of the worst artwork
ever."

"

then the artwork truly sucks"

AWESOME DISCUSSION!

saying something is SHIT takes about < 10 seconds to type

about the same amount of time the user put into thinking
about it or just having fun with it.

that's all. if you dont see my point, that's ok.

i just like seeing people's expectations crushed.

they set themselves up for it

that's all....

i do see that point because that point makes sense. yeah,
it's too bad not every post is going to shed brilliant
insight - but that's something we must all expect by now...
it is the internet.

however, your other posts did not address quality:

"you guys expect so much
seriousyl when will it end
each release
more and more
never enough
just stop it
cant you be happy with what you have
jeezous
either that or you think change is the deveil "

if someone doesn't like the cover art it means they hate
change??

or what about this:

"why dont you go listen to mobys new album. hes
'electronica' isnt he? "

these posts are dismissive nonsense. they are the same shit
quality as the ones that just say "this artwork is lame" or
whatever.

my point is that the conclusions you have both drawn are
completely illogical jumps-to-conclusions slagging the other
people on this board. [/rant]

"we must all expect by now...
it is the internet. "

we/you/us made it this way ... we have the ability to change
it.

and it wasn't like this some years ago.

forget about that tangent....

oh well,

at least we still have the board layout

the only true thing left here ....

Ok then...

I don't really understand why they have selected this
particular scheme for the cover, Ae and their designers
(TDR/Alex Rutterford) usually come up with abstract and
interesting ideas, like Draft or EP7, or minimal and classic
like Confield or LP5, but this one seems to have been
consciously created to look like a generic 90s dance CD
cover, it is simple, but doesnt gel properly and it looks
like something I was capable of producing at GCSE graphics,
not the latest Ae cover. It might look different when I
actually have the CD in my hands, and not as a low quality
gif. Also it might yet be a fake.

However when it comes down to it, it doesn't really matter,
I and many others were just surprised by this choice of
cover and want to discuss it.

I liked my version better to be honest.
This one looks like some kind of candy wrapper.

Now that I think about it, its actually a good thing theres
been all these autechre arguements. Just goes to show how
each new autechre release is getting harder and harder to
digest.

I myself was displeased at first, and now I feel like an
adult who realized half the phases they went through as
teenagers were pointless and stupid. What I'm getting at is
that I fucking love untilted and feel like a moron for
brushing it off so quickly (like many of you have done this
past month for the new ae album.) So many subtleties that
can only be found after repeated listening.

r40f>>

point1:
about 90% of the comments in this 'discussion' are people
bad mouthing. over and over. so whats the discussion?
maybe how REALLY SUPER bad the album and artwork are? like
sorta bad compared to ultra bad? or maybe how much better
each of the songs would have respectively been if the drums
were softer in this spot or that spot? rating ones
contempt=really productive.

i have no problem w/ people having different opinions than
my own, but i do have a problem w/ THAT SAME OPINION
overwhelmingly dominating a so called discussion - of ANY
release. especially one that: a) isnt out yet. b) is by a
group who most people having anything to do with this board
are directly or indirectly influenced by. not that they are
sacred cows or anything - but this very much fits into the
type of stuff that autechre does - sonically and visually.
so i frankly dont understand the drama. but thats not to
say i cant understand people not liking things - i do that
all the time.

point2:
do you realize that you just said:

"seriously, i am perplexed - wtf don't you understand about
people having opinions that are different than your own?"

whilst simultaneously dimantling my personal opinion (the
one you seemingly disagree w/)?? "its like
raaaeeeeaaaaiiiiin on your wedding day.."

Well, I'll just say that I prefer songs like Parhelic
Traingle, Tapr, Uviol, Rettic AC, Vl AL 5 and so forth
because they showcase Autechre's ability to make sounds that
don't relate to my past experiences. I truly heard NOTHING
like that before. I don't get that feeling of discovery for
any of these new tracks which is a little dissapointing but
it doesn't mean i'm complaining about them. It just means
I've expanded my musical horizons. I'm sure this album will
produce that same feeling in someone else who's just getting
into electronic music.

it's not even them! holy moly someone is gonna be paying out
of their ears for this mischevious deed.

i agree with the comment about it looking like a design from
the bottom of a snowboard in the mid 90's. personally, as a
graphic designer, the color scheme is a bit awkward, merely
because the blue and yellow are complimentary colors. as
that might imply, they should "get along," but with a
collaboration such as autechre, their style has previously
been more analagous in hue. these look like they were
smashed together. maybe that's the intent? not sure. i'll
wait and see.

I believe you need 3D glasses and to stare at it like a
stereotropic picture to like it.
