Sometimes it's well necessary, vomit, alcohol and other spills tend to ruin the overall listening experience.

it's ok, none ever had some weird liquids on them : )
they're just a little bit dusty sometimes - like pretty much everything in my room. i was just wondering because i've heard it could be a cause of cd players skipping.

HINT:
Toothpaste is a mild abrasive that can be used to buff out minor scratches on cds. Try it, it works (not on cdr's though).

discs should never be cleaned in a circular motion. you must wipe from the centre outwards. you must do this because of the grain of the cd, it is similar to an but more delicate.

yes there is a small paragraph about The Compact Disc Digital Adio system, and how amazing cd's are and how to care for them in my copy of Jean Michel-Jarre's Equnioxe.
" For the best results, you should apply the same care in storing you Compact Disk as with conventional records."
