Hello, and welcome to a brand spanking new episode of "Exquisite Corpse!" What is this? Well.. I had this idea.. get several music-makers together and make a track. Each will make their part (one to bass, one to melody, and so-on) without listening to the others' part. A BPM and maybe a theme or scale is decided beforehand, and when everyone is finished, it is mixed by one of the participants or preferrably a person that only does mix. The general idea for the tracks is that they're supposed to be as spontaneous as possible, which means it would be preferrable for them to be done within an hour or two (including the process of getting artists), so don't sign up unless you haven't got time. Today I was thinking we should try something a little different.. if people agree, less artists will be required for this one... I was thinking we should do a "classic jazz trio" setup with nothing but Piano/melody, Bass and Drums (plus the mixer, so that's four people needed). (the genre of the track doesn't necessarily have to be jazz and the instruments doesn't have to be what they are supposed to be (so it's still pretty "free") even though the setup is, but it would be great.. it would be like a free jazz impro...). So what do you think?! If anyone thinks we should just do it the regular way, speak up! So, in this case: Melody: - Bass: - Drums: - Mix: - F minor (F G bA bB(bH) C bD bE F), 120 bpm? |

well.. the guy who does the mix normally cuts and loops and decides the length, but I normally recommend making 16 bars unless you intend for it to be noticeably looped... but should I write you down for drums tonight, or will you wait? |
