The combinator makes it possible to combine different
reason-objects and play it like one instrument.

i guess it'll never come because of cubase.

Yeah but thas what rewire is for. You can actually program
all the reason instruments in cubase, and then run the
reason instruments through their own effect channels in
reason.

or more accurately "run the

reason
"

I like the DrRex player, and the maelstrom graintable synth,
but the rest of the instruments sound awfull. I wish they
would make a sequencer that makes sense too. And the
rendering sucks (but that is what rewire is for).

I'm sorry. Saying you don't know how to use something as
simple as Reason is like saying you don't know how to use
the dictionary.

well the blatant use of a

:)

indicated my comment may have been tounge in cheek. a lot of
people do badmouth reason without knowing how to use reason
however. there is a lot to learn with it. i make 80%of my
music on reason, and it all gets good responses.

a bad workman however.......

That avatar really does suck. I think he is trying to prove
how shallow everybody is by not paying attention to someone
with such a stupid avatar. Well my answer is, "if somebody
was walking around with a big ass hole through his forehead,
I wouldn't listen to them either."

There. Point proven. Change your avatar isnieZot.

:D
thanks for the info, but i know all that...

do you think i want to buy Cubase + Reason to be able to do
everything? + i'll still need a sound editor...

i just don't like the idea of buying cubase if i want to
have another synth or fx... and if what you said is true
about the rendering, you must also buy cubase if you
want if you want to have decent quality of your waves.

i'm not saying it's shit, but IMO if steinberg didn't bought
proppellerheads they would have added VST support to
reason...

long live renoise! :D ;)

Word up.

It has a good synth and a good sampler, but they don't
really justify the $300 for the software. I wouldn't want to
buy reason 3.0

As well, I really question their logic behind calling it v3
if all they add is a few mastering tools, and a rack
organizer. I guess the motorized faders thing is kind of
cool, but I find it hard to really understand the point
behind something as sophisticated as that for anything more
than a gimick. And anybody with enough money for a mixer
that includes motor support on their faders would probly be
using something a bit more sophisticated than reason. And
reguardless of what its being mastered through, it will
still sound like ass when rendered. Even fruityloops has
near flawless rendering at this point!

Sorry i think you should all shut up.

People say things too quickly and for the most part you are
all snobby. Sit down shut up put some work into and then
enjoy, only a bad workman blames his tools. And seriously if
you actually have a clue about mixing your tracks then you
will not be able to tell any difference from anyone else.

: )

That feels better.

Fl and reason are good. just like sonar, cubase and logic.
but logics a tad iffy. DP is also quite fun. but eJay is
where its at. lets all jump on.

r r rock to the rhythm d d dance to the beat, come on people
and move your feet.

Reason = Good cheap tool for people who want legit software
even though it is only really suitable for straight/break
driven music as a standalone product.

I think you can get cool things out of just about every
program out there. I don't think there is ever going to be
just one software package that encompasses every angle and
every possibility. Reason has opened up some amazing avenues
for the music I make. I still use a free program called
Buzz just because the software users program new
synths, effects and all sorts of patches all the time. Even
though the programs sound quality is very low, it still
opens up some possibilities that you can't get with any
other programs. Reason has it's ups and downs as well, but I
still like to have it in my line up. I like how fast you can
lay out song ideas and create many different sounds with the
synths. WOOT!

offline Taxidermist from Black Grass on 2005-03-06 01:14 [#01523009]

I didn't say reason was bad. I was just saying that for the
price, their are better, more intuitive and nicer sounding
programs out there. Didn't mean to insult anybody.

I like buzz too. But it has the opposite problem with
reason. Instead of being commited to too few instruments you
are committed to trying to sort through thousands.

Sure, you can get pretty much any possible sound out of it
if you really try, but if you don't like the interface your
kind of fucked.

Favorite freeware; Audiomulch.
