I really like that idea
I had taken to logging my mixes in text files but this would
be much nicer

Wouldn't that be kind of anti-creative or something?

Probably........ but who cares? If you didn't want to use
it, you wouldn't need to. If you did, it might prove to be
useful.

I see it as a great opportunity to compile a database of
tracks that sound good together
the data mining possibilities are endless
plus it would make for a good netradio, especially if you
had beatmatching dj software to automate the mixes with

That's a nice idea too......

to be honest, I'd be slightly surprised if this hasn't been
done before.... it would be so easy to set a database like
this up....

does nobody know of a website like this?

And, if not, why doesn't someone on here with the time and
know-how set it up? I for one would love to use it.

Champion..... let me know if you need any help...... not
that I know how to make websites or anything. But I could be
some kind of "creative consultant". An "ideas man", if you
will.

sweet deal
I am going to make a database where you can trace all of the
connections between tracks that could mix together...
selecting a track would give you all the tracks that mix
into and out of it... I have mid terms this week though and
lots of studying to do, so dont hold your breath ;)
and also keep in mind that I frequently start things without
finishing them haha

Maybe an interface similar to that used in
www.musicplasma.com might be useful? Mind you, it's probably
not necessary at all. A simple, searchable database would
suffice.

Man, this would be useful but it would take the fun out of
discovering if for yourself. I'm torn between wanting to
know ones that mix well and those that don't.

Leftfield - Phat Planet and Lemon Jelly - Nice Weather for
Ducks is a cracking mix. Sounds awesome. You just need to
kill some bass from NWFD and tweak the mid and treble and
you're home safe. Sticking with Phat Planet you can mix
California Dreamin' with that as well.

Aphex Twin - 54 Cymru Beats and Beach Boys - Good Vibrations
goes nicely.

Oh man, I could go on for ages!

Here's one I found the other day:

Peaches - Fuck the pain away
with
Ulrich Schnauss - On My Own

Euphoric yet sleazy results guaranteed

Fortunately/strangely I found a version on vinyl which was
actually better than mine :D

yeah the best way to manage that would be to turn the volume
right down on the snores track, you will never notice the
interchange, then straight into Cage 4'33"...most awesome
mix in the worlds

this is a sorta similar site.

Search for a band you like, and it'll recommend similar
artists.

Break that down to the song level, and it's basically what
you're talking about.

mix and they were next to each other in the box :D
